A few years ago, 2008 to be exact, my son got rejected in June. I also have a family friend who got in from the z list in late June (possibly early July). He had no connections.

As of right now, no one has received an email indicating they are no longer on the waitlist. Some of us may think the first cut will come tomorrow because the first cut was done at 5:00 PM on May 18 last year and also the website got taken down today.

The vast majority of people could go soon. A slight few may stay on in case of summer melt or z list. Our counselor left us no hope after speaking to the admissions rep at Exploring College Options. The numbers leave little hope. If 2,029 were offered and 82% accepted by May 1, that strict math is 1,664 and Harvard has 1,665 freshmen beds. What if the exact yield is 82.3%? Then they are oversubscribed already by 5 students. Maybe hope for the z list but extremely unlikely.

I don’t think our inability to access the access code means we’re necessarily rejected, as it seems to have happened for everyone last year as Rachelsophie suggested. It just means that the decision is coming out soon!

The sooner the better really. I’m really happy with my other option (Columbia) so I don’t care that much if i’m taken off, it’s just the waiting that is so frustating!

Oh and I have requested my details on the admissions page but they are yet to send me an email, though then again it tooks for them to do it when i requested it for the orginial reply to the wait list

Thank you, Viewer. Also, do you have any insight into whether telling the admissions office that I am willing to take a gap year if there is no room left for this year’s class helps? I am a little worried that it might translate to “I just want to GET IN.”

@classof20178 I told them that I was willing to take a gap year and outlined what i would do in it as I was told that was helpful. To be honest though I think it’s probably much too late to do that by now! Sorry!

@olibonn My rep told me that I would be kept until the summer, so I was wondering if they were considering me for the z-list as well. Well, okay, I think I will let them know that I am willing to take a gap year too.

@classof20178 oh in that case you probably have time! Sorry i didn’t know you had talked to your rep.

classof20178 - your situation sounds interesting - Could u provide the forum with more details on your situation? -

how were you notified by your rep that you would kept till summer? Phone call or email? Similarly, did they elaborate…i.e. they felt you were a strong candidate they wanted to hold on to till summer or that they hoped to notify candidates in the summer?

@AlexaCH It was through email, and there was no further elaboration.

Based on last year’s thread, those who were accepted (if many decisions are released tomorrow) where already personally contacted on the phone. And with @AlexaCH update, I’m assuming this holds for those staying on for the next waitlist round?

@classof20178 - Did you have any significant updates to your application after being waitlisted? You seem to be one of the lucky ones that actually heard you will be kept on the waitlist until summer for Harvard. You also seem to be one of the lucky ones that did not yet receive a letter to be cut from the Brown waitlist. Thanks for any info.

So there’s an email from Harvard admissions sitting in my inbox right now that I’m too scared to check.

Got mine too. After two months of convincing myself it wasn’t gonna happen, I can’t say I’m too disappointed. Glad it’s all over with!

Just opened my email, and I can say that the BandAid doesn’t hurt being ripped as bad as I thought it would. @maulrus same here - glad it’s over too! Good luck to the rest of the waitlisted people!

Do any of you have gmail? I do, and I don’t have an email!

also glad the wait is over! after that 82% yield, I had discounted the possibility of getting off the list anyway, so I’m not disappointed.

Got the email. Rejected. Not gmail for those who are wondering.

I got the email and I have gmail

I’m so glad not to be left wondering. I have Gmail and just got the official “no”.

Is there anyone else who didn’t receive the email?
