2018 - 2019 USC Transfer [Viterbi]

has anyone been admited to veterbi recently?

No one has been admitted to veterbi, ever.

has anybody who received a SGR heard back after submitting spring grades?

@CADREAMIN …ah, I see the spelling error. Glad I didn’t have auto-correct on my Stanford app. Best of luck to you all

@jasonspyres I was gonna put a winky wink but thought it was more fun this way. Congrats to you and thanks for hanging out on here - best to you up north. You’ll still be wearing red.

@CADREAMIN please know, I did not take it rudely… I actually chuckled at it. Sorry if it came off that way. And thank you! I am still in amazement that I got in… and off the waitlist at that!

Has everyone already received their transfer credit report?

I finally got my TCR. They gave me credit for Calc 1-3 however not for Linear and Differential… I’m assuming because they are separate classes at my school but at USC they are combined classes. What are my chances at appealing this, I’m confident my class covered the appropriate material and it seems redundant to take the same class over again.

@Twenmi I got credit for Linear and DE and I took it as two separate classes too.

@coscimajor that’s weird I wonder why they didn’t give it to me

@Twenmi Have you gone to orientation yet? They are still ready to make changes regarding classes and you’ll have a chance to talk with multiple advisors. I think 5 people got updated TCRs at lunch…

@MeowModulus What do you mean that they made changes regarding classes? Is this a bad thing because students’ courses do not transfer over to USC?

@engineering132 More clearly put: Change for the better.
When you arrive they give you your TCR, if you find that a class hasn’t transferred that you were expecting, there are people there to help you out with it. If the course in question is in your department, when you go to register and there is an issue, someone is there to help navigate and approve as needed. There is another event in the afternoon (where you get your ID) with a lot of tables, one of the tables is related to transfer credit issues and I’m pretty sure it’s staffed by someone to help with TCR issues. And finally, if it’s not resolved by the end of orientation they tell you who to talk to about it and what the deadlines are. The experience at orientation was really smooth, low-stress, and everyone there is really dedicated to personally helping you find what you need. I would try not to worry!

@MeowModulus Alright thanks for the clarification. I am still kind of lost since I was recently accepted for mechanical engineering. By any chance, did you receive your financial aid package yet? I didn’t receive mine yet and I am worried about the cost.

Hi, So I’m trying to transfer to USC engineering from a community college, and recently saw that apparently “All major prerequisites must be taken for a letter grade”, and am wondering if I can use my 5 on my AP Calc BC exam to fulfill the requirements for Calc 1 and Calc 2 (which are major prerequisites) to skip over to take Calc 3 or would I have to take Calc 1 and 2 again? Any comments are appreciated. much love <3
