2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

Hi guys! Since there is less than a month left until the application opens, I thought it would be a great idea for us to start a discussion!

Cheers!

Yay ! i’ve been waiting for a thread for 2018 - 2019 to open

which school/major are you guys applying for

Annenberg for journalism

Annenberg for Public Relations

Oh jeez this is starting already, haha man I am hoping to apply to Viterbi for Computer Science, I am having rough feelings about that though of course. Here are my stats, considering I have another year at my Community College

General Info:
Gender: Male
Race: White
Location: Upstate NY

Other: I have a ADHD disorder, I was dealing with depression (Can explain why I had a poor HS track record and first semester at CC)

HS Stats:
HS GPA: 85% (We didn’t use a point scale)
SAT: 1410 out of 2400 (I have seen that SAT scores don’t matter for transferring so I probably wont retake)

I never did any APs but I was straight A's and B's in pretty much all my Math and Science courses. My HS also never releases ranks or we never had AP classes.

Through my first year of CC:
CC GPA: 3.3 (I plan on rising this to a 3.6-3.7)

Courses I have taken:
Trig/College Algebra (B)
Calc I (I taken this twice. I gotta D first semester and an A second semester)
Intro to Computer Science (A)
Programming and Logic I (B)
English Comp I & II (A’s in both)
Literature Into Film (C - This class kinda sucked)
Macroeconomics (B)
American History I (A)

Courses I plan on taking:
Calc II
Physics I & II
Programming and Logic II
C++ Programming

American Literature I

Extras:
I have a part time job where work about 20 hrs/week since my Senior year in HS
I am an administrator for a programming website where we help out other people with programming problems (Stack Overflow)
In HS I played in AAU basketball and HS basketball
I have served in community service. I served at a local retirement home and helped the elderly people. I also did church work where I served at a homeless shelter.
I assisted coach a local CYO basketball team from grades 1-5

Viterbi for Computer Science as well

what are your stats @swg3hnna

looking for a smaller template to put stats on but this might have to do. sorry for being vague (ill put in more details when i get the chance)
junior transfer

Major: Viterbi for CS

Current School: UCSC
current GPA: 3.9
HS GPA: 3.7
SAT: 2030
Work experience: Tutoring, ect
EC’s: Probably something about making apps, volunteering, and student orgs

Extra: Possibly 1 letter of rec

im probably going to apply for anthropology

@goldnred what are you stats

@welchie98 I will be applying as a sophomore actually… i was rejected last year as a senior with a 4.5/3.98 GPA and 34 ACT

I’m going to be applying for psychology!

Does anyone know how weak it’ll look on my viterbi application if I don’t take a science course than is transferrable? My current school is making me take a required physics class that is not lab based for my first year, so I will not be able to transfer those credits because USC doesn’t accept them.

Also does anyone know how/when we should contact our advisors for questions and concerns? Is now a good time to do so?

Anytime is fine as long as it is a valid question where the answer isn’t on the website. Email, they don’t answer phones.

@nicolehigriffin Yes you should start contacting your advisor for questions they are very helpful during this process. I have already contacted mine since last year :stuck_out_tongue: haha.

I will be applying as a Junior Transfer for Dornsife- Psych!
I currently have a 3.625 GPA and will try to get a 4.0 :)>- this upcoming fall semester, I can’t wait to start this journey with you guys!

Major: Computer Science/Business Administration
GPA: 4.0
Current units: 35
CCC: Pasadena City College
Clubs/Organization: Honors Program, will join Alpha Gamma Sigma this coming fall semester.
Courses in progress: Physics, Calculus
Electives: Financial and Managerial Accounting, 2 semesters of Economics

I went to the transfer information session yesterday and I forgot to ask if we’re allowed to have a second choice major? I’m planning to apply at Marshall’s as well.

Anyone know how likely it is to be accepted as a transfer from a UC school?

@madelineasa525 USC is a private school, so coming from a UC shouldn’t really have an impact on your transcript.
