@ivcstudent oh cool! what major did you apply for at USC ?
OCC here :)>-
@Elena1355 I applied as a Sophomore.
@Ak1097 I received a package today with my acceptance letter and some booklets about USC.
@aznboi4981 I am OOS. I just live on the west coast.
@transfer201831 i’m a public relations/advertising major at chapman. tbh, i really had a hard time second semester freshman year and last semester (first sem soph year). it’s very cliquey, and greek life is strong. i have no interest in greek life so it was just a bit overwhelming. i also feel like i can challenge myself a little more, and USC has always been my dream school. also, pr at chapman is in the film school, which is film and media arts but it’s more film than anything—everything is catered to film kids which is dope if you’re in film, but a bit harder for PR kids. whereas at USC, pr is in annenberg which is perfect. i applied for pr first choice, journalism second. a bit risky ah. i have a 3.8 and my counselor is Alex Alvendia actually
Hey guys, so after that last post about the housing portal, I decided to make a page and it let me. Then I began applying for housing and after filling out the questionnaire for housing (about messiness and stuff) I am now on the page where I need to pay 55 dollars for the housing deposit. Should I pay to secure my spot in case I get in? Will they refund my housing deposit if I’m not accepted? Isn’t it weird that it’s letting me pay the deposit and fill out the questionnaire when I’m not yet accepted? What do you guys think?
@hjjjkk First post, hmmmm, couple questions…you are in Asia where your package arrived but you say you study at a private university in Boston, so why aren’t you there now? Thanks for explaining that it is daytime in Asia, that was a good clue. And the package is dated April 23rd and it’s already in Asia! Maybe Santa dropped it off. And how did the package arrive, what does it look like? What’s inside? And you already know what transferred and what didn’t without the transfer credit report, that is amazing!
Uh, ok.
Re housing - You definitely won’t get deposit back but if $55 bucks not a big deal to you, go ahead.
Rejected from UCLA today. Really banking on USC now!
I have a new question for those who have experience with appeals. I am preparing my appeal and my biology professor has offered to write a letter of recommendation that I did not include originally because I had only been her student for two weeks when I submitted my application; does USC allow letter of recs in appeals? I am applying to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in Keck and my Professor worked as a researcher at USC under Steve Kay for multiple years (and still has a good relationship with him, according to her) only left to become Department Chair at my University so it may be useful.
Unrelated: But I decided to check the housing portal out of curiosity (and to let ya’ll know if it could mean anything) and it allowed me to make an account and start an application. I, however, have already been denied from USC so obviously that portal does not mean anything. I would not waste a housing deposit until you have received an acceptance letter.
@baseballbro111 Wait on your stats post you said you have 6 units in progress? Are you on a quarter system?
@schrutedollas I believe all 4.0’s, but for sure 3.9 and above
@blueskies2day haha it’s kinda hurt to read your post but well, it’s reasonable for you to doubt, so that I will answer your questions.
It was delivered by DHL express. When my high school sent my transcript to USC by DHL in late Jan, it took even less so I don’t think there is any problem.
The DHL delivery guy came and rang the bell, I had to show him my ID and then sign to get the package.
It has like 3 layers: DHL’s plastic bag/packaging outside → a hard white carton box → dark red acceptance package. I will not waste my time describing further details because you know if I wanted to lie there would have been multiple ways to know how the package looks like.
I was just estimating my credits. Because when I looked at Marshal’s transfer plan and the GEs’ description, I knew many of my courses would not be qualified: like bio course didn’t include lab, or International relation course just focused on one single country. My major at my current uni is not business as well, so that many courses will only count as electives, I’d rather give them up for other courses at USC. I don’t mind spending another year at uni, I’m planning to take the Accounting major (the little longer road) anyway.
My last exam was on April 20th, and I took the flight home on the morning of April 22nd (Boston time) and landed in the afternoon of the 23rd (local time here). I always try to fly home as soon as possible so that I knew I would be home from late April, and I put my permanent address into my USC app.
I feel funny and ridiculous at the same time now but I just don’t want people who are waiting for a decision to be confused and think that I’m messing with them. Because I’m not.
Next time if you’re in doubt, can you please be a little bit more polite? Thank you.
Just got rejected by UCLA for Pre-Econ with GPA 3.92 and lots of ECs…
And a friend of mine who I believed didnt have any EC got admitted to Business Econ with GPA 4.0…
Is UCs really that sensitive on GPA

I just received an email requiring additional info for financial aid. Kind of surprised that I received an email this late at night. Also does this seem like a bad thing?
Saw an email from USC and my heart dropped… was just my login info for housing that I made last night lol. Ughhhhh
@USCPLEASE93 3.7, over 80 units, non-traditional student in honors. Finished HS 12 years ago with a horrible record. Lots of relevant work experience. Your stats are great! Good luck to you.
Got rejected from UCLA for film, hoping for USC. Fingers crossed!
@laneline thank you for your response. I was accepted but am not well informed on the school.
Nothing in ID… just saw my mail for the day. Meh. I shouldn’t be checking informed delivery, but since I know it’s there, I just have to refresh every two seconds
Applied to Annenberg as first choice and Dornsife as second choice. No SGR for me yet.
I applied last year as a sophomore and was rejected. I just got into UCLA yesterday and now I feel even better if I don’t get in USC again. But if for some reason I get in USC this time around, it will be a hard decision since both Communication programs are good. Is anyone else going to be deciding between the two hopefully as well? Any factors I should consider when making my choice?
I was obsessed with going to USC last year but that rejection put things in perspective for me big time. Getting into UCLA was a shock and something I never gave much thought to. I applied just because I live in LA and had fee waivers to use. But now I’m like, hmmm they didnt reject me. Maybe USC isn’t a good fit? I’m not sure.
