2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@aznboi4981 Just an FYI ID can update at any time.

@goodBrujo9 congrats on your UCLA acceptance! Did you apply to Cal as well?
Do you mind sharing your stats you applied to UCLA with? Comm is an extremely competitive major to be accepted to.

@goodBrujo9 congrats! You can’t go wrong either way and you have one and I’m sure another good choice coming soon. I think you should think about if you want more of a mass media vs. interpersonal approach (the class offerings vary slightly at each school) and also the student life outside of class and cost. Have you been to each campus recently? For me, when I spend a day on the campus and speak with faculty and students, I just get that sense. Let go of the feeling of what you think you want and let the day you actually have make the choice. Whatever is meant to be will be :slight_smile:

@UCHopeful2018 sounds like we’re in the same boat! I was bummed about getting rejected from UCLA, but USC is where I really want to go anyways. The UCLA film program hardly accepts any transfers :frowning: Super nervous because I only applied to those two schools.

@sugarcane1
Thank youuuu! I did apply to Cal but again, just because. To be honest I don’t think I intend to go there because the major (media Studies) is only theory. I also wonder about opportunities in TV/entertainment industry after graduating. Ultimately money plays a big part as well. So far, UC Davis has offered me the most. I’m still excited for tomorrow’s Cal decisions though!

I’m a local CCC student.
3.94 transfer GPA.
IGETC complete.
Two associates degrees complete but not the AA-T.
I’ll have 86 units done by the time I transfer. I know for sure 11 of those don’t transfer.
I’m non traditional.
I did circle K for two semesters in CC and volunteer from time to time at Project Angel Food in Hollywood but no other ECs.
I think my essays were good. I wrote them the same day I submitted my app. I Focused on showing my personality and humor since my grades spoke for themselves.

I called the Comm Dept last fall when I was considering applying. The girl flat out told me the threshold is 3.7 but usually people with 4.0 get in and they do read the essays because it’s so impacted. I honestly thought it was a long shot because I didn’t have all these amazing ECs and awards but I figured might as well. At least I wasn’t paying for the privilege of being rejected. Lol getting in has made me emotional because after the rejection from USC last year I was kinda like maybe I’m too late to this party lol. I remember visiting USC in 2016 and I was dead set on being there because of Annenberg and the opportunity for interdisciplinary Studies. Plus they had a lot of cool classes.

@transfer201831 thanks so much for your advice!youre right. Both are great. I’m going to visit each campus I was accepted to. Major is important but I also want to feel like I vibe with the people as well. I plan on doing my graduate work wherever I go. So I want to be sure since I’ll be there for 3/4 years. I love USC because you can do it all! I don’t want to choose! I think interpersonal and mass media are equally important and I’m intrigued by all of it.

Cost is also a factor. My gut tells me if I do get into USC they will have the best aid package simply because they have more resources. I also worry about not getting classes I want. All questions I hope to have answered by the time I do visits.

@ivcstudent public relations!

I have been lurking on these threads since I was a prospective freshman. Also, for Dornsife, what are your gpas if you don’t mind me asking? I have a 3.96 and awaiting to see srping grades.
