@csumit , where is the results thread?
@ernesto98 wait aren’t you a psych major? Did we have to take calculus?
@ernesto98 @csumit @giakhanhngo123 The D in precalc really did bring my GPA down from a 3.94 to a 3.64. Never retook it but realized that the business calc at my cc satisfies the Math 118 requirement for Marshall. Took that business calc class and got an A. Hopefully they take into account that despite getting a D in precalc, I was able to get an A in the course that satisfies the Math 118 req.
Btw, the business calc course did not require precalc as a pre-req at my cc. Only Calc 1 requires precalc as a pre-req. USC accepts both Calc 1 and/or Business calc for Math 118.
@schrutedollas ahhhhh that makes more sense
@Elena1355 yes but not for usc. UC Irvine requires it so I am stuck doing it rn

@GoodAfternoonSir YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE, BUT IT DEPENDS ON HOW MANY USC TRANSFERABLE COURSES YOU HAVE TAKEN. I THINK YOU’LL BE FINE THOUGH.
@NotLonelyIsland I’ve received the opportunity to be partake these jobs because they’re all owned by my family and we’ve been working together for about 9 years. I was 10 when I first started working as a cashier and became an assistant manager in a year after proving myself. Will my universities regard them as legitimate?
@GoodAfternoonSir Yes of course!
Hang in there everyone. You’ll all be “fighting-on” soon :)>-
@NotLonelyIsland Is there anything else I can do to strengthen my application? I was wondering if volunteer work, internships, and other activities are even needed for me. It’s april and I have a long way before I have to submit the application in January I believe.
P.S: I’m currently managing my family clothing business i spoke earlier, so that takes a lot of time on my schedule. If i go the extra mile and actually do some volunteer work, would that show my universities how dedicated I am? Or would they think of me as a try-hard or something?
@GoodAfternoonSir Ohhh you haven’t applied yet. All that stuff is great, but make sure you get amazing grades. Grades are most important. Work experience is better than volunteer work, but taking the right classes is the most important. For USC, extracurriculars don’t matter as much as grades
@GoodAfternoonSir I second what NotLonelyIsland said. Yes, ECs might give you a bit of an edge, but ultimately your grades are the most important factor. I’ve met with an admissions counselor (I’m a TTP applicant), and even as a com major, she mentioned nothing about ECs. All the information she told me was strictly academic related.
You want to maintain your GPA. Try not to go below 3.7- 3.8. Finish any pre-reqs before you apply (meaning, USC should have a letter grade for those courses but the time you submit the app) and finish all the writing/English and math reqs ASAP. USC likes to see students taking 15-16 units per semester, but that shouldn’t be too much of a big deal since they understand many students have to work and whatnot. Avoid having no pass/pass grades (unless that is the only grade you can possibly get for the course) and avoid W’s.
Hey everyone! I applied to USC which is 100% a reach school for me, but I thought I would regret it if I didn’t at least try. But here are my stats in case anyone is in the same boat as me.

@NotLonelyIsland @Christinaxxxx I have decided to take 12 units in the summer and 24 units in the fall. this time is also the busiest season for my business. Will this show to the universities that I’m capable of handling stressful situations when it’s demanded? As for the grades I’ll definitely have all A’s and I’ve checked out all my requirements for transfer to USC about a year ago so I’m following this plan that I’ve created for myself that lists all the courses that will transfer not only to USC but the other 13 universities ill apply to.
For those who got in, how early did the package come up in USPS informed delivery before you got it?
@GoodAfternoonSir it definitely will! Remember though, your grades are most important, so don’t overwork yourself if not needed!
@anontransf mine showed up on ID the morning of
Just checked my portal… I got an SGR. Incoming junior.
Edit: I do not have the math or english requirement in progress. Already completed.
i know it’s probably been asked, but will i be expecting something from viterbi soon? or rather closer to june
@schrutedollas whats an SGR? Also the math requirement for business administration majors is Calculus 1 Right?
