2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@USCPLEASE93 hey! I’m a public relations major from a CA CC. I have a 3.9 gpa with a lot of ECs. I took 16 units a a semester and will have completed all my GEs by the end of this semester. What about you? Hope we both get in!

So I’ve been checking in everyday on my apllication’s status and it’s just now saying that they need my parents 2016 w2 forms… is this bad that it’s just now asking for it?? will this affect the amount of aid I receive or my chances of getting?

I hope we hear this week!!

@ki37fighter Just asking for it, and yes, of course it will affect your aid, it is a key factor in determining aid.

@sugarcane1 So if you transfer in with any less than 64, you’re considered a sophomore instead?

My friend was accepted from IVC after his second year there! I’m studying at both right now!

Great news hahahaha! I would think IVC and Saddleback students have a better chance than other community college students… Maybe thats just me…

@CADREAMIN with what you said about not being able to put engineering as your second choice major, do you know if that is also true about other majors. I put Marshall as my second choice, but I know on the Marshall transfer page, it says that students interested in Marshall should put it as their first choice, so I’ve been wondering about that…

@aznboi4981What do the initials mean? I probably did

@dwightsbeetfarm Over 20 units? I did 20 units once and it was pretty insane. I had classes from 8AM to 3PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays with just a short break (I think 40 minutes?). It was quite challenging. I did manage to get a 3.7 or so that semester, but eeeesh, was it hard. My classes were on nearly opposite ends of campus too, so it was sure difficult sprinting across campus with only 10 minutes between classes. I assume this is why everybody has a bike. Depending on how many units the classes are, 22 could be doable. However, you would have to pay extra once you go over 18 units. The semester I tackled 20 units was one of the only times where I had to take out a loan to pay for expenses. You’d be paying the per unit cost which I think is $1,800 right now? There is some good news though! If you get a 3.75 GPA your first semester on 12+ units and are doing a major/minor (multiple degree objectives), you can get a benefit of up to 21 units at the normal 18 unit rate (so no extra fees). I didn’t want to do anything more than my computational linguistics major and I was a tad under 3.75 my first semester, so I couldn’t really utilize this achievement award :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know if this means they discourage taking over 21 units, but I also personally never met anybody that did over 20 units.

@ericbadmon yes that is my understanding. Junior standing is 64 units.

Do decisions usually come out at the start of the week too? Or just towards the end of the week?

@Tuttwirl Initials of an admissions counselor

@aznboi4981 oh, is that true? My counselor is Bryan Green. Dornsife Econ Applicant, haven’t heard anything (even the SGR)

is it possible to ask conselor for admission decision lol?

@ssppppp My friend got his decision over the phone because he needed to make a decision at another school

@aznboi4981 We can do that…? Damn I already paid the deposit for UMich but would still take USC if I got in. Does that mean they’ve already made our decisions and are just waiting to release them?

How your friends talk to them? I lives in LA i want even go to usc to get the decision if is possible.

@Elena1355 I already did my deposit for Michigan already as well. I called the admissions office at Michigan, and they said it was fine to have paid the deposit and then accept another school’s offer. All we have to lose is the deposit for Michigan. Just let the admissions office know that you won’t be attending Michigan. You can PM me for more details. I’m also applying to Dornsife as a Chem major and Price as a public policy major.

@Elena1355 Yeah, I mean I don’t know the logistics… but I do know it may not be the best idea to call lol
