2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

I wouldn’t recommend calling either. USC obviously knows that people have to commit to other schools and even suggests that you make such backup plans. Your friend must have gotten a rogue admissions employee, lol. When I called admissions asking why I hadn’t heard, they didn’t tell me anything at all. They just said I had to wait. I did however get my decision like three days later. I would only recommend calling if it’s past their deadline and you still haven’t heard somehow; that’s the only reason I called

has anyone here heard of students who are sgr’d receiving their decisions before they even send final grades?

Pass the deadline? Can i know which deadline you talking about ?

@ssppppp the June 1st deadline, that’s when we’re all supposed to receive our decisions by

Ugh i just got an sgr. Guess its expected cause I’m a freshmen rn but was really hoping to get in without one.

@ssppppp Yeah, the June 1st deadline (or is it May 31st this year?). I somehow didn’t get any kind of decision by the deadline the year I transferred, so that was the only reason I called. I don’t really see any other valid reason for calling and asking for a decision if there’s still so much time left to make decisions. I don’t know how common my situation is though. I think it’s pretty rare. I can only remember like one other person (at least on this forum) that has had the same thing happen.

@a_licon I don’t think that’s possible. The notification/requirement to send in spring grades doesn’t go away until you submit your spring grades, so your application would be incomplete until those are received. There’s no way they would make a decision. I know that sucks for people getting SGR’s since it means they have to wait until their spring semester is over :frowning:

Should I contact my counsellor about the spring grade request?

@GraceBayville aw cool! My first choice is communications and second is PR. What was your second choice ? I have 4.0 but my first year I wasn’t full time only my second year I was full time. I have like 3 ECs and I hope we both get in too

Can someone please tell me what we should do after we get the SGR? I got one but it didn’t come with any specific instructions, only that it would come on the mail (the instructions) and that was about nine days. I tried uploading the unofficial transcript to the portal days ago but it didn’t work.

@Elena1355 What would you be saying to them?

I tried calling last week and asked if they could give me a decision prior to May 1 (when I have to make decisions about other schools) and they said they wont be able to send decisions until the end of May (even though all of my materials have been in since February)

@zettasyntax oh you are not transferring this year! I was like deadline should be June why you said pass the deadline lol! Thank you for your help!

@derrickh2 That’s more along the lines of what I’d expect them to say. That’s the nature of how USC deals with transfers. Some might hear back before SIR deadlines and what not, but many won’t. This is why I would advise committing to another school if you have the opportunity to do so. I committed to UCLA and just lost out on the SIR fee (I was able to get stuff like my housing deposit back). That was a small price to pay to ensure that I had somewhere to go in case things with USC didn’t work out  I learned my lesson after trying to transfer the year before and winding up with nowhere to go.

@ssppppp Yeah, sorry if it was confusing! I’ve already graduated from USC, so my transfer happened eons ago :stuck_out_tongue:

Sophomore SGR request. IR major completed 14 credits doing 16 this semester. 3.96 GPA and on the way to 3.9-4.0 gpa this semester with all A’s. Nothing to worry about with an SGR. Had completed math and English requirement in the fall, both with A’s. fingers crossed!

I just got a SGR. Applied to Marshall with 47 credits completed and 4.00 GPA. Currently taking 15 credits and expect to get all A’s except possibly a B in Calculus (my final exam will decide). I will try really hard to keep an A, but I hope a B wouldn’t get me rejected.

Edit: I saw it on the portal first. Live 30 mins from USC.

yoooooooo

I got in!!!

The letter is dated April 28. I can’t believe right now. I screamed when I saw my decision. I did not get a mail. My portal updated first.

@inception97 congrats! what time did the portal update?

@inception97 CONGRATS!!!
