2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@Vincent1997 I haven’t finished all of the requirements (some are in progress, I’m a sophomore) but by the end of the school year I should only have the two that need to be completed at USC.

I’ve been lurking around here for the past few months now and I thought I’d put out some info for the people who are still waiting:

  • I'm a sophomore, TTP but no legacy, currently attending a CSU
  • Took only GEs, 17 units completed with 3.89 GPA and 13 in progress (expected GPA 3.93 for spring)
  • Completed Calc I last semester, but my Writing requirement is still in progress (no SGR!)
  • Currently studying Electrical Engineering, although I applied Marshall and got in
  • Only joined 1 on-campus org this semester, but found a decent internship
  • Portal hasn't updated, FA hasn't updated, and there isn't any FA in my acceptance packet
  • My admission is contingent on me earning a 3.5 over spring with no grade less than a C
  • There was a USPS tracking number on my packet (but I never checked informed delivery)

Let me know if I can answer any of your questions; we’re all in this boat together- I love you all and best of luck to those who are waiting for their packets!!!

Special shoutout to @CADREAMIN for the phenomenal posts and advice… and for making the unbearable wait a little more bearable. FIGHT ON!

@transfer9692 I’d love to go to UM, but I’m not willing to take out 40K a semester to attend haha. That’s around the price tag they gave me. I’ve been a Hurricane fan all my life though, but I’d still prefer to go to USC, even with even price tags. UF is a great school, so I wouldn’t mind attending there.

If you don’t mind sharing, do you go to MDC?

According to the NPC, my estimated FA seems kind of low given my financial circumstances. Kind of shocked… Hopefully my explanations and what not on those worksheets we had to fill out reflect in my FA package (granted I am accepted that is!)

Congratulations, @quietquiet.

@quietquiet Did you use USPS Informed Delivery? If so did anything appear? Congrats!

Edit to my earlier post: I’m a RISING sophomore… I’m currently a freshman (lol). Sorry about that.

@Anco17 God I know, UM is very pricey and they don’t give much aid. According to their calculator I’d have to pay around 25K. I agree, UF is a great school! It’s just not for me.

And yes I do! Do you go to MDC or Broward College?

My grandmother lives in Miami, so I am always down there. I’m a sophomore in college now, but I was so close to going to UM. Absolutely love that school and the area of Florida itself. Not sure how you guys could want to leave there haha

@quietquiet Thank you for the kind shout out. And huge congrats on Marshall! One of mine did Marshall, then slid into Leventhal, obviously for accounting. It is so nice of you to share what you know of this process, it is such an uncertain time that really drags out for transfers. But TTPs without SGRs (which is most of them) really should hear in the next week.

Financial aid comes separately, they just started posting RD FA this past Tuesday on the 27th, about 5 days after decisions. So those getting acceptances should watch for FA info about a week after getting decision. You just keep checking your portal for updates (and if there are any missing documents you need to submit) and eventually get an email that says your FA is complete. Sometimes things are added over a few days…or even a couple weeks.

Hang in there everybody and Happy Easter!

@aznboi4981 Haha Miami is great but after a while it all becomes a bit too much to handle. Regardless of where I go to school I think I’ll always come back though.

Still no news from USC?

Considering the demand for FA, does not requesting FA help the odds of being accepted?

Was thinking of maybe starting a groupme or something for accepted transfers! Not sure where else there’s a lot of communication for all the transfers - anyone know any resources where people have been talking? I know there’s a USC Spring Admit / TTP 2021 group on FB but it’s kinda dead haha

@markspencer22 “need-blind”, therefore it shouldn’t help or hurt your odds of being accepted.

Do you guys think that they really are needblind? Or they just “pretend” to be?

@transfer9692 Yeah UM is so much, my EFC is pretty low also, I can’t imagine what someone with an average EFC would have to pay for attendance.

I go to Broward College, do you like MDC? I love Broward College, a lot of people told me it would be boring, but it’s been amazing.

@aznboi4981 It’s a combination of things for me. I love it here and have great friends here. But I couldn’t get the opportunity I could get at USC here. UM is stingy with financial aid, I couldn’t afford it. FAU and FIU are solid schools, but of course, not to the level USC is. Plus, USC has an incredible environment in its own right, and I really think I would fit in well.

@transfer9692 Once I graduate and settle down, I’ll probably end up down there. I basically grew up there haha. But I guess your wanting to leave is the same as me wanting to leave NJ/NYC. People think I’m crazy for hating it haha. But yeah still nothing… I’m not TTP, but I am hoping we hear back later this week.

@elleerain I’d love to join in on the GroupMe (contingent upon if I am accepted lol)

@Anco17 That’s why I couldn’t go to UM. It was just mad too expensive. I couldn’t see graduating with that much debt, so I took the full ride I was offered at a small state school here in NJ. Bored and unstimulating experience, so I am desperate to transfer now haha… but yeah USC has such a vibrant community with literally endless opportunities. Hopefully we get in!

@Anco17 I have a few friends who go to Broward! MDC is okay. I mean, I’ve been studying for free and I actually get money back from FA, so in terms of money it’s been great. And my classes are super easy, perhaps I just choose the right professors haha. But administration is a mess and the students are okay. Haven’t made any meaningful friendships here and conversations are always very superficial.

@aznboi4981 Yes! Haha we’ve got the same situation but reversed. You wanted to come to UM but it was too expensive so you stayed home, I got into NYU but only with a 30K scholarship and tuition was hella expensive so I stayed home. I can’t wait to start fall at a new school, wherever it may be!

I think we might hear back by the end of the week since we’re all on the East coast!

Soooo the only people getting in right now are TTP applicants? Sorry I have not been keeping up

@elleerain I agree, we should start a groupme or maybe a transfer facebook group and hopefully people would start joining?

@Twenmi no not all
