@rgehr123 By extra classes, I think I meant within my schedule so I could get all of the GEs out of the way (I would have to talk with my sounselor about the writing and language parts).
My CWS was a slides presentation. That was how rushed I was. I originally intended it to be a tech demo in Unity. For my second try, would a fully done game count? Or could a tech demo still work. Either way, I will be making a private portfolio site which only they and I could view.
@StipendAwarded In the case of extra classes being GEs, I think that’s a good idea. Keep in mind though that its impossible to do all your GEs ahead of time because US requires you to take at least 2 at their university.
I personally didn’t have a personal website, but definitely a great idea.
For the CWS, I don’t think a tech demo would cut it. I submitted a tech demo of sorts in my first application, which I personally thought would be quite impressive, but I didn’t get in, so I suppose it didn’t cut it.
I think what they’re really looking for in a CWS is artistic talent, vision, and perhaps the ability to tell a story rather than the technical aspects of game design. Definitely try to make a full game project. It doesn’t have to be big, just complete.
I would like to show you the demo I sent in with my rejected application but the site won’t let me post links. Any way I can share that with the forum?
@csumit Us Viterbi applicants are in for a wait, 2017 and 2016 threads look like they got their decisions late May. It’s probably best not to stress about it too much these next few weeks.
@StipendAwarded What it means is that out of the 8 required GEs, you can only take up to 6 of them at a different university. Definitely clear it up your counselors from your current school and from USC, they will be your best source for accurate and up-to-date information.
@rgehr123 The real sad part is that if I clog my freshman year with game courses, I would be learning more about game design from GMU than USC. And GMU’s program not only is inferior to USC’s, but has none to its name.
@Elena1355 They had a notice up all of last week stating that the portal would be down for a good chunk of today. I looked at the note so many times, and I forget when it said the portal would be back up haha.
USC’s stuff in general seems to be down. I still like to use myUSC for the USC email and I can’t access it. Makes me wonder if it’s just routine maintenance stuff. But it would be great if an acceptance wave started earlier than usual
@fighton7777 Guess it might have been routine stuff unrelated to admissions. However, I just got a text a few moments ago about the on-campus network and phone systems being down. Wonder if they messed things up as they tried to fix things.
@bantisz Thank you for your response. Upward trend at USC is huge and I have been in close contact with my admissions counselor for over a year now so I’m hoping for the best!
