2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@zettasyntax late may? Damn. What about ttp applicants?

@zettasyntax Do you mind sharing your high school stats? Do you think this had any effect on your rejection the first time you applied to USC?

Did anyone else get an email yesterday saying:

“We have received your application for admission but wanted to let you know some items are still missing from your file. We have listed these items below:
academic transcripts, including coursework from the most recent semester as indicated below:
My Current School Name
We encourage you to send them to us as soon as possible. If you have already sent the items, please disregard this notice. If you have any questions or problems please contact us, and we will be happy to assist you personally.”

My spring semester at my school will not be over until the end of May. But this is essentially a request for my spring grades right?

It sounds like a SGR to me.

I’ve been lurking on this thread for months and finally decided to post!

SCA applicant here. My first choice is production, and my second is cinema and media studies.

Currently a CCC student, 50 units completed with a 3.94. Not a ton of EC’s, but I am a Phi Theta Kappa Member, presented human rights research at a symposium, Chancellors list, taken honors classes. I also work a ton as a server in a restaurant, and I am the sole provider for my younger sister. We moved here from Michigan around 3 years ago. I think that might say a lot about me at least, and hopefully explains my lack of on-campus activities.

For the production portfolio, I submitted a 5 minute documentary style video I created entirely by myself last semester about a Hispanic gang member. Directed, shot, and edited. I feel really good about it, but I think my weakness could be in my essays, and perhaps that I just started the foreign language requirement this spring.

I applied to UCLA as well for their film program, with anthropology as my second choice. Really gambling by applying to two highly selective schools, so this waiting game has been so painful! Glad to share the anxiety of this with others in the same boat.

@K1w1B1rd What school are you applying to? (Marshall, Viterbi, Dornsife, etc). Looks you received a SGR.

@K1w1B1rd sounds like a SGR but you might want to clarify that they have all of your grades up to date.

@phunphunphun Several Dornsife people will be part of the first wave. I applied as Undecided/Dornsife as my first choice and got an SGR April 23rd.

@csumit The TTP earlier decision stuff is still pretty new. I was so shocked when a transfer got accepted in late March last year! That was unheard of and really game changing. There’s really not a lot of data points for that yet. So all you TTP people better post in the decisions thread :stuck_out_tongue:

@instarae Sure. I had over 30 units when I applied though, so I wasn’t asked to provide SAT scores or anything - which is a good thing because I never took it, lol. My HS stats are fairly non-existent. I was in the 9th grade for maybe two months? I got a report card (5 A’s and 1 C), but I never earned any credits. I dropped out much too soon for that. I have a few theories about my rejection, but since I wasn’t asked for HS stuff, I don’t believe that could have been one of the reasons.

@goodBrujo9 i see where you’re coming from, but for me it wasn’t about the grammar—i’m confident enough in that are that i don’t need someone to check that, it’s more just that the structure of my essays makes sense. sometimes, when you’re so connected with something, you don’t realize that people need more context or that it doesn’t read as well if you don’t get another perspective. anyway, good luck! i applied to annenenberg for 1st and 2nd choices lol b/c i know that i only want to study pr or journalism. but fingers crossed lol maybe that wasn’t a good decision, but best of luck to everyone!!!

also, @ilovelamps, what program did you apply to?

@K1w1B1rd I got the same exact email last week but considering it said missing APPLICATION documents I’m assuming it’s not a SGR? I’m not really sure, but I did send them my transcripts again, and ‘Transcripts’ was removed from my missing application documents on the portal. I am going to call later to see if it’s an SGR or not.

@EDodgeCayman Fellow SCA applicant. Got rejected as a freshman from Interactive Media because of a faulty portfolio, so I will be at the GMU Honors College for freshman year. I plan on trying again next year to transfer as a sophomore.

I was pretty active on last year’s thread and wanted to hop on here to wish everyone luck! Currently on medical leave and will be back on campus in the fall, so I’ve got a ton of free time in case anyone has any questions!

This is a really stupid question, but how do you PM someone? I’ve messaged people before, but now I can’t find the button on anyone’s profile

@shrunkin yes I think I agree with that. I only know you and one of my friends applying to price. What’s your gpa? Are you doing Real Estate through Price?

@zettasyntax Any chance of SCA decisions coming out around April 20th?

If I submitted an additional doc via the portal two days ago, do you think it will be reviewed? Or do you think my app was already reviewed? Orrrrr… will they revisit my app (if they did review it) and see what I uploaded?

Do you guys think I should send in an additional rec letter from my comm professor (i applied for comm first choice, sociology second)? The one they currently have is from my sociology professor. The app was due while I was having the comm class so I couldn’t use that rec, but he wrote me one after the quarter ended, which I used for other schools I applied to.

@EDodgeCayman SCA seems to take longer like Viterbi. An acceptance happened on May 20th if you look at the decision thread from past years. This would make me think SCA decisions would be part of the second wave too :frowning: Although since it’s a talent-based major, that’s somewhat to be expected as additional people have to review it. It could go either way (first or second wave), but there doesn’t seem to be much in the decision threads supporting a late April release. Best of luck  The SCA building seems so nice, haha. I never checked it out at all during my time at USC. It seemed so elusive :stuck_out_tongue:

@aznboi4981 I am applying to USC’s School of Architecture

@Capital_Dan Yeah I sent my admissions counselor an email yesterday after I received the email

@lovetoast05 Yeah that is what confused me about the whole thing. I sent an email to my admissions counselor yesterday, so I am hoping to get a response today. If not, I will probably call tomorrow. If you do end up calling please let me know what they say

You need 15 posts and a junior member before you can PM @instarae See below link for more info
