@latinrules generally, the FedEx package is mailed to arrive M10. Andover normally would have a 5pm notification time, so the package (if accepted) could arrive prior to the portal opening. But, since this year the portal opens at 9 am, you’ll most likely get the electronic decision first.
@buuzn03 Do you happen to know if anyone received an email to an Andover portal, or did all emails refer applicants to Gateway?
I ask because I read yesterday about the Andover emails to their “portal”. Just before DC could email them about the fact that we had not received an email about how to access decisions, we got one from them referring us to Gateway. DC was OK with it, but DH insisted it meant DC will be rejected. As parents, perhaps we took the rejection worse (DC was hearing our conversation and just laughed!) or maybe it’s just that we have been under tremendous, unrelated stress (think health, etc) lately…he actually went out at 9 pm and got me some wine. We don’t keep any at home due to the health reasons, but you know what, I just needed some last night and indulged. Ah well, que sera, que sera!
@Winter2018 from what I can tell (we are not applying this year, so I’m not privy to the emails from schools), Andover is now using Gateway as its notification portal. Last year they gave the option of Gateway or their school portal. The school portal froze and many had to rummage up their Gateway sign in information to access their decision. I remember this vividly because we were in the car driving 6 hours to hockey playoff games for DS. He hadn’t brought his computer which had the Gateway sign in info and it was a tense few moments with under breath mutterings in the front seat while back seat passenger was scrambling trying to remember a password he hadn’t used in two months.
I am trying to modify last year’s notification list as students are getting their emails. It is a guide and not the Bible, but I’m trying to be as accurate as I can with the information given to me. By all means, drink a glass of wine because after this process, you should. But let me be quick to warn you…do NOT read anything into anything on CC regarding winterkid’s results. You’ll just deplete the liquor store’s inventory. Lol.
Hugs to you and I hope the other issues in your home are resolved and there is a speedy recovery!!!
LOL!!! There’s so much good information here, that I didn’t even question it until this morning. But thank you for putting my mind at ease. No more wine until Saturday, but all bets are off for that one day.
It must have been a nightmare if you and DS were driving and could not access his decision. The things we go through for our kids – I have never minded a rejection for myself, and I was glad to see DC reaction yesterday.
Note to self: Stay home on Saturday so you can access the decision online, and pray that Gateway does not crash!
^No kidding!!! It is so much harder to get a rejection for your kid than yourself. Hang in there!!!
Your posts are very helpful for newbies.
I think I would lose it if Gateway crashed
Guys you don’t know how desperate I am. I’m literally looking through the decisions element on the websites and trying to look if there is a secret decision letter under the M10 timer. One website had written in it’s code that decisions are not saved locally on the website!
Gosh people are checking the html for secret decision?! Lol
There isn’t
You should assume that any backdoor that a ~ 13 year-old can think of has already been thought about by the older and more experienced website guru. >:)
Good try though.
I think we need a mini M10 intervention for our industrious snapchat…
Don’t know if anyone applied to Winchendon, but they posted on social media that they mailed their “envelopes” yesterday and some people might have received them today.
@skieurope I looked a little closely and actually found one letter in my ‘searchings’. Not going to name said school though, but I guess it’s a mission success :P. Maybe I’ll try social engineering next for the rest. The wait is killing me!
@vwlizard I haven’t received any Winch mail today except advertisements for my dads parking ticket.
I haven’t gotten any fedex texts/emails and now I’m scared I didn’t get in anywhere
@snapchat now you’re killing me, wish i had that skill!!
@FunintheSun1211 two years ago we knew of our first acceptance but it was at 8 pm on M9 so it is very early especially if you are looking at one of the TSAO schools who have committed to no notifications before M10. This would be a Friday at some point situation.
This snow storm in New Jersey should bring extra luck for our kids…for 3/10/18.(smile)
Although our news just said the snow will be so bad in our area (not far from many of the BS) that packages could be delayed. If today was mailing day, things could get ugly. Hopefully, all schools that mail great acceptance letters will also have portals or email announcements.
