I applied to Stanford last year as well. Do you think there would be a better chance for 2nd time applying?
Also I am an international student studying in California State University for 3 years now, and Stanford recommended to submit Toefl scores. I do not have any Toefl or any of English proficiency scores, so do you think I will more likely be rejected?
Does anyone know how many transfer applications Stanford gets on average every year? And how many are admitted?
@illiniBoyi they get about ~ 2,000 and accept 20-40 depending on the open slots that year.
@GoldenState1 Hey are you at Cal today for the new student event?
I am just ready to get accepted to Stanford already, so I can move on with my life and start focusing on my upcoming finals. Cal is killing me with all the financial aid, residency, and independence verificaton paperwork…
@SmartJarhead sorry didn’t see your message until now! I been in Berkeley all weekend with a cohort program called bridges was invited for an all expenses paid weekend on the program so we’ve been crazy busy all weekend! Did you come out Saturday?
@GoldenState1 yeah I’ve been at Berkeley all weekend as well! It’s been a fun weekend
@SmartJarhead I’ve noticed you’ve been racking up acceptances everywhere.
Now that you’ve visited Cal…
UCLA or Berkeley?
@goodBrujo9 Hey! Yeah I’ve been so fortunate with the acceptances I have received. I toured Cal this weekend and I liked it. But I think the campus and surrounding area at UCLA is much nicer. I’m considering Cal over UCLA because they gave me a much better financial aid offer. I’m going to go tour USC tomorrow, it would cost the same to attend as UCLA, but the class sizes would be awesome so I’m considering it as well.
I also visited Stanford again on my way back to SoCal and God I love it so much. Still my #1.
@SmartJarhead I visited Stanford last summer and it’s been my number 1 ever since
@illiniBoyi Same here, fell in love with it the moment I stepped foot on campus last year, just had to visit it again on my way home It’s an awesome place with great people and vibes.
@SmartJarhead I’m glad to read you love Stanford so much. It’s my number one reach school and Usc is my number one realistic choice for the coursework and class offerings for my major as well. You will love Usc campus. It’s nice. I’m from DC on east coast so I like the more urban setting. People always talk about safety but since I grew up in a city I know how to handle myself and it doesn’t intimidate me. Plus I like seeing real life happening. UCLA is nice and pretty. Too pretty for me I think. I get the impression a lot of students say it’s “safer” (stats show otherwise) and they like being surrounded by wealth. But that’s not an accurate representation of issues facing Los Angeles. Trojans are right there in the mix in the neighborhoods trying to make it better and doing amazing work in the community. That appeals to me a lot.
As the Stanford decision date gets closer I’m starting to have anxiety. I applied as a dare to myself and now I’m like. Oh my god. What if some crazy person in admission let’s me in? Will I really like it? Will i fit with the people who go here? So to read your comment about its good vibes is great.
@goodBrujo9 Those are excellent points about USC, and if Stanford doesn’t work out I hope to see you there. From my experience on the Stanford campus, everyone there absolutely loves it. You have nothing to worry about
Did anyone here apply to only one school, Stanford?
@standreaming You’ll find that it’s pretty rare for a transfer student to apply to just one university, even more so if it’s a hyper selective one.
I’d like to think of it like this, unless your motives for school A are completely and unqestionably unique, then you’re bound to have reasons that match up with other schools too. Applying to one school, especially a dream one, is all too much of a hail mary to me.
@standreaming I only applied to Stanford because I’m a first year transfer from a CCC and I got to a point where I didn’t want to write any more of those essays. So I just picked my top choice as a long shot. No regerts.
Does anyone here know when Stanford will release decisions?
Transfer decisions will be released on May 9
The Stanford Office of Undergraduate Admission will release decisions to Transfer applicants on Wednesday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Decisions will be available on the Application Status Page.
