New York, NY - January 20-21, 2018
Chicago, IL - February 5-8, 2018
Los Angeles, CA - February 10-11, 2018
Thank you so much! I’m a nut about planning in advance and have been waiting to see the dates.
@artskids - just curious where you found this information? I remember last year I kept checking the official unified website and it took them forever to update it. Also, many colleges didn’t update their website until August / September. Glad we won’t have to attend in 2018 but I am sure I will have many of the upcoming seniors asking me questions. thanks.
I found it on the registration portal http://nuaregistration.com. Also, some colleges have updated their websites to include the dates (e.g., Penn State).
Thank you @artskids for sharing this information. Do you book Palmer House independently? I clicked on the link on the nua page and it started an e-mail to Hilton.
Regarding Chicago Unifieds… how many days do most people attend? Do you fly in the night before?
@FourStars - I would definitely plan to arrive the day before to leave room for weather delays. As for how long to stay, it Depends on how many auditions you have scheduled, and how many walk ins you plan to do. My D arrived on sat, had auditions sun/mon/tues, and we left tues afternoon (6 hour drive home for us). So we only missed 2 days of school (which was important to both of us) She did 6 auditions over those 3 days. No walk ins. Other stay longer, or pack far more auditions in. No right or wrong
@FourStars I made my reservations directly through the Palmer House. The registration link is for schools. We are planning to come in either Saturday or early Sunday. My D may have an audition the Saturday before. I am anxiously awaiting schools to update their 2107-18 audition dates to confirm.
University of Michigan put up their audition dates for 2017-18. Note date/time of Chicago Unified dance call:
Sunday, February 4 and Monday, February 5
or
Sunday, February 4 and Tuesday, February 6
The dance portion will take place exclusively in the afternoon/evening on Sunday, February 4 at the Joffrey Ballet. Voice and acting auditions will be held at the Palmer House on Monday, February 5 and Tuesday, February 6.
Okay, I am only starting to understand how this works! So, you have to look up each school to see where they are holding Unified auditions and on what dates? Am I right that you can’t sign up for an Audition UNTIL you have submitted an application? How does that work?
@FourStars - some schools require you to submit an academic application before you can schedule an audition, some do not. You have to read the requirements for auditioning on each program’s Theatre Department website. At a minimum, you normally have to fill out a Theatre Department application of some sort. If you have any specific questions about auditioning for a particular program, just call the Theatre Department at the school.
Isn’t that site for registration for the colleges? Not the applicants?
@Notmath1 Yes!
Does anyone know what schools at NY unifieds accept walk-ins??
@samson1 There is no specific list and not necessarily on schools websites either. You need to walk around the Pearl (or wherever they are this year), and those schools accepting walk-ins will have it posted outside their rooms. Some schools change from year to year and offer them one year and not the next. Walking the venue early in the day should give you an idea of who is doing them this year.
