2019-20 COA to reach almost $75K! Yikes!

https://admission.tulane.edu/tuition-aid/cost. I can’t copy the page, but the breakdown of costs, including fees, books but not including travel, is almost $75k!! Whoa.

No responses? Is that because everyone fainted reading this?

Ha ha - all I can say is how grateful that I am that my son got in with a big merit scholarship before they started reducing the size of them - also how happy I am that he is out of the dorms and off of the meal plan next year! I’m hoping off campus housing will cost quite a bit less. The health insurance is a wash for us because we pay for our own anyway -actually his is the same cost but much better coverage.

My daughter just got accepted into Brandeis and they list the cost this year approaching $76k… so I think it’s the sign of the times. Not sure about other similar private universities. I would be they are similar.

I don’t think anyone is fainting because they should have looked at the cost of tuition prior to applying, so the fainting should have taken place back in the fall and not now. Also to ProudWADad’s point, the $75K is in line with many other private universities – Northwestern, WashU, Emory, Notre Dame and many others.

^^ and many others as well. Boston College, SMU, BU, and the list goes on. But that’s the sticker price, and most people might get some sort of financial or merit aid. It’s tough out there right now!!

The net price calculator we did in the Fall was quite a bit off, and not in our favor when we got our results back on Gibson. The reduction in merit moved Tulane out of the affordable range for us. My son is not accepting his spot.
