I’m taking an English course at my current institution. The course is graded based on a portfolio of a bunch of essays we write during the semester. We get our final grade at the very end of the semester. Because a lower division writing course is a transfer requirement at USC, will I most likely a spring grade request if I don’t get rejected initially?
@jj1999 having a 4.0 never hurts. I find it kinda odd that your counselor told you to stay away from major prep, but I guess it’d be good to knock out as much GE as you can as a TTP applicant.
@AndyWarski he told me that cause he said that assuming I get admitted Id have to retake those courses anyway so he told me to take general ed classes
@freethepuffles, Most likely.
How many applicants does viterbi accept. I have a 4.0 currently and I go to a well respected California Public engineering school. I also have a 1510 SAT score. Do I have a chance even without a ton of GEs?
I read all pages on USC 2016, 2017, and 2018 transfer stats/decisions thread. People start getting their acceptances on March 30 all the way through July. Does anyone know the application process? Is it by the date you submit your application or school or just random?
I applied to Marshall as a Junior transfer from CCC.

This is USC’s student transfer profile for 2018. Is the academic distribution % mean acceptance % rate or % of students the school is made up of?
On the Common App, I included the classes that are in progress. This included Winter (will send in updated grade via another transcript) and the current Spring semester. However, my schedule of classes for this semester has changed and I can’t go ahead and change it on the app. I did find on USC’s site that in order to make changes to an already submitted application, I would have to submit a request via email. What I am wondering is if this looks ok - that it doesn’t look bad or unfavorable during the application review process? I mean… students change/add/drop classes all the time within the first week or so of the semester. Any thoughts on this?
^^^ You can email your advisor and let them know of the changes to remove uncertainty in your mind.

@taki123 Acceptances are irrelevant of submission date. The tend to come in waves the first being early April (some maybe very end of March but more likely into April) then there seems to be smaller waves, sometimes you will notice by school/major. After the initial wave or two they tend to just sputter out into May and June. Some as late as July, but the bulk by June 1.
@sbequ19 I had a similar issue and I just emailed my advisor told her about my situation. I sent a new updated transcript to USC and she said that was fine.
If you get a SGR (spring grade request), this can delay your notification into early summer, especially if you are attending a school that ends in late May or into June 15th. Also, there may be some lead time for finals grades to be posted.
Anyone Have Christine Vargas as their USC Counselor? I emailed her about important information that should be forwarded to USC’s admission and records but she hasn’t replied yet. It’s been a week
Guys I wrote like 710 words for my transfer essay and 310 for the prompt-choosing one. Will it kill me???
Where are my Viterbi peeps at B)
@GoodAfternoonSir the USC individual counselors seem to never reply (mine didn’t either), I’d give the office a call if it’s something crucial to your application.
@maxinelime I wrote over the word count too, but I stopped at the character count on the common app (1500 characters for the last 2 prompts). The character count allowed and word count approximated were different so idk… I just wrote until I wasn’t able to anymore.
When I downloaded my application in the check status section, it shows my full essays so I think it’s okay… Can anyone confirm this? Lol
Hello! I am new to this and I have been reading all of the decision stats for last year and what not and I’m very nervous!!! I received the TTP and accepted it and decided to go to UCSD for the year. But due to financial problems, I had to drop out and continue my studies at a CC. A lot of factors stressed me out and unfortunately I am sitting at a 3.32 cumulative GPA. I’m taking 5 classes in spring and will hopefully get a 4.0. But I am worried because I read that people get their decisions as early as March and I’m terrified that they will not even ask for my spring grades. I’m just ranting at this point and I’m just scared!! If I do achieve a 4.0, I can bring my GPA up to a 3.6 (still not as good as others) but that’s basically all I can do. I finished one quarter at UCSD and got a 3.57 GPA this past quarter at CC I received a 3.00 GPA which leaves me at a 3.32 in total. (Sorry about the spastic writing. My mind is everywhere right now) All of last years stats, the GPAs were amazing and now I don’t know what to do.
Anyone know if there’s a Marshall transfer thread for 2019-2020?
Anyone else get that financial aid email (I know everyone does lol just thought I’d ask)
@milekoorb Have some hope! It is very much possible that USC will send you an SGR. They do factor in grade trends and a strong showing this semester/quarter could help provide for an acceptance. I do hope that you incorporated your story about why your grades slipped into your essays. That would provide the admission committee with some context to work with.
@DDHH2017 I did. Just a notification to finish FAFSA and the CSS Profile by the March deadline. I have already turned in everything for admission and financial aid so I have no need to worry
