@Coopy1 May I ask what your daughters Major is?
@sagaciousforever You’re fine! I did pretty much the same thing with more than 2 schools, just sent them directly to the schools. Some like USC updated a much faster pace, others took 2 weeks on average… and one (IVY) literally said to just come back in April to see what I’m still missing as they have so many things to process I guess. So don’t panic, just give it time.
IF you had to add an attachment or something different, call up your school and make sure they have actually sent the transcript, make sure to send the confirmation number along so they track it. GL!
Friends just wanted to say I’ve applied to 7 colleges and honestly the way USC has transfer systems set up in place is beyond god-sent. From the counselors to the time they process the documents I’m blown away. Some of the other schools have been interesting to deal with especially with one that decided to get away from the common app, make their own essays and portal at last second. Just food for thought that makes me even more excited about the school and perhaps offers a window into how organized the school is in comparison to others.
For former students, once on campus was the school this organized in terms of events, planning, careers?
@Snekfest Thanks for responding! I was worried by early April if the Emory portal still shows that they are missing my college transcript, as this may affect the admission decision? But I literally sent it at the end of January. I thought when Emory’s admission office received my transcript in February, they would automatically check my name in their system.
@sagaciousforever the April thing was referring to a certain IVY, not sure about Emory really. If emory has no statement in regards to the timing, I would call them and check up. If they say they’re behind then great, just wait, otherwise, you might want to send another transcript. Had the same issue with a college where I sent the transcript BEFORE submitting my application, and there was no luck. So I sent another one, and that went through successfully. Wishing you the best.
@Snekfest I agree with you. USC is very organized compare to other schools. It is my top choice for undergraduate Business program considering it is in LA, my favorite city. UCB HAAS and Emory are my second choice.
Also, I like that USC is more lenient towards transfers from a four year institution. I study at a top 50 private university in California now so it is way harder for me to get into Top UC schools compare to CC transfers.
@Snekfest Did you send another one directly to the University or did you send it to Common App Processing Center? The method that Common App suggests is so confusing because I could not find a “transcript request form” on Common App. I am going to contact their online support tomorrow.
@Snekfest Wishing you the best as well! I am not too worried about USC since USC focuses on essay a lot. I have a 3.71 GPA now but I am low in units (only 62 units after Spring and not all of them will be transferable since my school has classes such as Public Speaking and that might not transfer to USC’s GE).
By the way, USC admits more people in the 3.7s and 3.8s range because they know that these people are more likely to attend than those 3.9s and 4.0s if offered admission. But colleges such as Cornell and UCLA would accept more 3.9s and 4.0s. UCLA in particular cares a lot about GPA and UCB and USC care more about the holistic view of an applicant. That’s why an applicant with a 3.7s-3.8s are more likely to get into USC and UCB.
I finished all pre-reqs except for the two writing classes but my counselor told me that it is okay to complete those two at USC since my current school does not offer them.
Anyone sending mid-term grades to USC? I think someone said they ask for spring grades? But I have one school that asked for the Common App “Mid-term report,” so I do have it on hand. But also, it might give away that I’m applying elsewhere too? What do you all think?
@CADREAMIN Quick question! Is it normal for Trojan Transfer Plan student to not get a response until May and then get a request for spring grades? Or do most/if not all TTP students get their decisions first regardless?
@GotYa55 biology
@GotYa55 she applied last year as a freshman and she was rejected. I’m very nervous for her ?
@KR0292991 I know of TTPs that found out when regular applicants did (end of March) which I am not sure how common that is, but generally they should get news early. aOverall, I think TTPs hear in April if everything their first semester/quarter was stellar, but last year a 4.0 TTP didn’t hear until much later, toward end of April, early May ugh. If they need to send out an SGR, that sloooows things down.
For example, the one I know that got in super early was on quarter and posted a 4.0 in first quarter, and had applied to USC with a 4.5 and 34 ACT out of HS (ya actually should of got in straight away, right)?! So it was a no brainer they were getting in, they didn’t need to see more. But same could be said for the 4.0 last year, however last year’s class was so over-enrolled that I think it was more painful than usual for transfer notifications because of all the commits of regular decision.
So it depends on overall application of individual and their history plus what is happening at USC. The good (or bad depending on which side you are on) news is, the overall acceptance for reg decision are down from 8300 to 7000 because of two big years of more kids committing than expected, so perhaps things will get out faster this year. All speculation of course, but here’s hoping!
Sorry for such long answer! These things are never yes or no it seems.
Hey guys! Does anyone know when transfers start to hear back?
Also chance me:)?
MAJOR: journalism
GPA 3.8
Credits: 60+
Pre-reqs: all done
EC: college/high school athletics, lifeguarding on campus, journalism projects
ACCEPTED: Pepperdine, SDSU, LMU
WAITING: USC, UCLA, UCSB
DENIED: no where…crosses fingers
@sagaciousforever I sent all transcripts directly to the schools every time. The common app is not only horrible this year but lots of things are not even finished like that process. So yeah, all of them I sent directly to the schools.
@KR0292991 I’m going to send in midterms even though they dont explicitly request them to hopefully avoid a bad case in which they ask for my final spring grades and delay my decision even further into late may/ August. Of course, there are no guarantees but worth a shot in hopes that if that bad case comes up, perhaps that can help out the AOs make a faster decision.
@CADREAMIN Thank you so much for the thoughtful response!
@Snekfest I was thinking about that too… but I read on an old USC admissions blog post where one of the AOs said something along the lines of “we don’t require Mid-Term Reports (nor do we want them!) Less paperwork for you.” That’s why I wasn’t sure.
@Coopy1 I think she has a really good chance since both her HS and college grade are very strong!
@Snekfest USC does not require midterm report though but I can still send it.
@GotYa55 I hope so , but unfortunately her SAT is not high , 1330 but she finished her first semester with taking 21 units all very hard courses related to her major with 4.0 gpa and taking 16 units currently for spring semester. I hope they overlook her not so impressive SAT
Any other applicants applying for the Global Business Major?? I feel like I’m the only one I know
can someone explain what are midterm reports? and should i send them i’m getting worried
