2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

A few days, but I think as time goes by they’re flooded with more and more applications, so it may get longer.

No My son had acceptance on screen and scholarship in letter a few days later! Watch your mail, it’s coming! What’s your stats maybe I can help?

Reflection
Strengths: Leadership
Weaknesses: Not much. Grades, scores, writing, activities all stack up well compared to most students.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Demonstrated interest, leadership, community service
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Alabama (admitted with full scholarship), Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State, Duke, Maryland
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Love Tulane, but they don’t offer the majors I really want (industrial engineering, operations management, basically something combining engineering and business). Will be tough decision.

@engineering2015‌ Acceptance came 9 days after we got the “complete” notification and 10 days after we hit the “submit” button, Hope that helps!

just got accepted! Louisiana people can check their statuses!!

What % of students would you guys guess have received an admissions decision yet? I feel like it’s taking forever for me, but then again that’s probably just because I’m watching this thread.

Agreed, @Ctesiphon‌

I highjacked my older son’s account, so don’t look at prior posts…My son just got into Tulane with $20k/year. He had a 31 on ACT and has a 3.5 at a very competitive private high school. His best friend has better stats than he (at least according to my son) applied SCEA and still hasn’t heard. I spent the afternoon on the Tulane website and it seems like an amazing place. (At least their PR is…and this son is the 4th of 5 kids in our family, so I feel like I have seen every school in the country.) I’m excited for him but feel the pain of everyone who is still waiting.

Found out I was accepted on Gibson on 11/20/14, received an admittance letter on 11/22/14. I got the Distinguished Scholar which is $27,000/year! Tulane is my first choice and I’m thrilled with the result!!

I guess you really are leaving NJ. Congrats!

Odd, but Gibson is telling me that my user name/password is invalid. System issues, perhaps?

Perhaps. If it persists, try the “forgot username/password” function to see if you can get back on track.

Gibson issue resolved itself. Question - did anyone else submitted arts supplements?

My S submitted an arts supplement, which seems to have slowed the process down. He submitted application and arts supplement on Oct. 6, but it didn’t get processed as being in his file until Nov. 6 (we called his admissions counselor to check). So I think that it will probably be a while before he hears. His counselor indicated that they get a lot of arts supplements. So we wait!

D was accepted from Ohio today and she is THRILLED!

She found out on Gibson so no idea about anything but the acceptance.

Just briefly: 34 ACT, 3.8UW from a well regarded public school, rigorous schedule (I think 9 APs total over HS). ECs included summer programs, varsity sports and honor societies (also NM Commended).

Well thought out Why Tulane essay (she is interested in epidemiology and has done a lot in that area already - access to the school of tropical medicine and public health as an undergrad is the main reason she applied).

She’ll need FA info beyond merit to know if it’s actually affordable for us.

Congrats @sonofwalt and @OHMomof2‌.

@OHMomof2 - I know you have been anxious about this, so glad this part of your wait (and your D’s, of course) is over. It would be surprising to me if she doesn’t get a pretty high merit scholarship. I imagine she is also applying for both the DHS and the PTA, maybe even the Community Service Award? If so, note that the CSS application isn’t due until January 15, a month after the other two.

@fallenchemist‌ - thanks, and thanks for the scholarship deadline reminders!

Finally got accepted today!!! (From TX)
My application was marked complete early October.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks. Is there any chance of getting any Merit scholarship based on my scores? My school doesn’t report GPA but I probably have around a 3.7-3.8 UW gpa.
