2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

Still haven’t heard, still says “awaiting review” on the portal. It is driving me insane. I wonder if I still have a shot at getting in.

@bengalmombengal‌ @erin52997‌ @beachgirl18 A good friend of mine still has the "awaiting review’ … I think as long as it says that, you’ve got a chance. I hope it works out for you all! When my status changed to “decision pending” I knew I was toast.

@Hi1997, D found out via the portal she was accepted then about 2 weeks later got a letter in the mail with a merit scholarship. Her stats were close to many of the posters here that were deferred. 30 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA. She had solid EC’s, as with many of these candidates. Hard to make sense of it all.

@RMKA2013‌ @fallenchem THANK YOU! You’re both amazing! I’m going for it. Gotta follow the dream. I was thinking of sending my admissions counselor an email today, but I’m not sure about the timing. Do you think I should do it now or wait until after the 15th when they’re not so swamped?

@smartskatergirl Your accomplishments are impressive and your story is so inspiring. How brave and mature you are to be so open and vulnerable in your app. I really hope you get admitted RD. FWIW, I’m really bummed too … got deferred this morning.

Surprised today when son was deferred. We visited and he showed interest. Confused.
Stats:
ACT 35
SAT subject tests of Physics 800 and Math2 790
10 APs
extracurriculars
varsity athlete

Oh well…guess he was not a match for them. :frowning:

Wow just received my letter and was awarded the 23k Founders Scholarship! Super surprised because I didn’t even think I would get in in the first place! I’ve posted my stats already but I had a 92gpa and 2060 SAT. Tulane is my top school I’m very excited this had made it a possibility!

Admitted!! Congrats to everyone and good luck to those who got deferred!

I got my letter today and got $27,000 with a 32 ACT and 3.91 UW GPA. Unfortunately, it is not enough for me to attend, but it was still a nice offer!

Still waiting… My application was complete on Gibson November 4th. Has not changed to "Pending Review, but still worried. Any chance it would come out tonight or should I give up hope till tomorrow?

Tomorrow.

My niece received a 32k merit award. Her letter said that no more merit aid would be offered. Does anyone know if that means that the Tulane and Stamps scholarships are off the table?

Just admitted! There’s still hope for those who are worried about the recent number of deferrals. I thought I was going to be deferred after waiting two months. Tulane was a bit of a reach.

I have never heard of anything like what you describe. I think someone is misinterpreting something. Maybe the letter said something about the Presidential being the highest merit award of its kind or something like that? Can you quote the letter exactly? What you are saying sounds impossible, frankly.

@Fallenchemist So, from what you know, how will THE DEFERRED stack up to the regular admissions pool? For me, my stats are 3.71 or so UW, 29 ACT, and pretty good EC’s. I also wrote the Why Tulane essay and will email my Tulane counselor as it says on that site you linked us to. I have a 4.0 this semester and I will do better on my ACT this Saturday (probably a 31 or so). Will this improvement and demonstrated interest give me bonus points with selection committee?
