2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

d got a premier 30k, 2150 sat, 3.87 gpa

Wow, nice result @jmek15‌.

nice summary, 96blue!

Thanks for re-linking the blog link, fc. At 61 pgs its good to have it easily accessible, especially for the folks listed on post # 900. And sorry if my post to you, cmartin, wasnt clear. Deferred applications automatically go to the regular decision pool. And if someone was perchance denied, they are done. There is no “re-applying”.

Applied EA, deferred.
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.97 UW
Rank: 27/1000
AP: 5
several ECs and glowing letters of rec
answered why Tulane and traveled across the country to visit

Is there still a chance I’ll be accepted? And if so, will I still be considered for merit based scholarships?

Nope, I made the same score again. & yes, I did! I’m actually working on what I am going to email them right now! Getting a legislative scholarship is probably my last chance to be able to go to Tulane. Fallenchemist

@fallenchemist

I just got my letter of acceptance today! ah! $27,000 a year scholarship.
stats: 33 ACT
3.76 UW GPA, 4.21 W GPA
good luck to all who were deferred :)

Posting for my D who was accepted about a month ago
Distinguished Scholar ($27,000)
Stats: 31 ACT (33 if superscored which Tulane doesn’t do officially–I think–but maybe it helped?)
UW GPA around 3.9, W approx. 4.75; rank is 22 out of 280 (approx.) in VG public HS in suburban Philadelphia
Visited, wrote Why Tulane?, attended local admissions reception
Strong (but not extraordinary) ECs, recs, essays, etc.
Tulane seems truly wonderful and she (plus her dad and I) are happy that the merit $$ makes it a strong possibility

Just got my decision on Gibson. Accepted.
Gender:Female
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Intended Major: Architecture
SAT Superscore: 1880
GPA UW: 3.9
Did not answer Why Tulane.

Hi. Daughter got Premier Scholarship - $30,000 (3.71 UW, 2300 SAT) and Honors College invitation!! Big celebration here!!!

for DS, engineering, 33 act, IBDP, ap scholar distinction, plenty service, etc etc, Safety application, deferred.

Deferred from Tulane . . . but accepted by the University of Michigan! Wishing all of you attending Tulane (or other schools) the very best with your college experience.

Deferred from Tulane. Very disappointed.
SAT: 2090
Ethnicity: Asian
O levels : 10 A*
AS level : 4 A
I had a remarkable transcript and loads of ECs

Why do you think i didn’t get accepted?

@aay2zee‌ did you demonstrate sufficient interest in attending Tulane? Sorry to hear by the way.

@fallenchemist‌ So I just ended first semester of senior year. I want your honest opinion, all my grades are either good and great except one…AP Stat
AP Psychology: 94
AP English Lit: 86
AP Econ: 91
AP French: 92
Band: 100
Personal Finance: 91

And then the beloved AP Stat: 74 -_-

How bad do you think this low grade will hurt my chances in RD after being deferred EA? Any ideas or suggestions?

@Mimime9‌ I didn’t submit the optional “Why Tulane” essay.
My Secondary School Report and Counselor report were pretty good though.
Congrats on your acceptance btw

@cmartin12‌

A lot of people struggle with Stats classes. I wouldn’t think it would negate other good results. But I think it will mostly depend on how the next class is shaping up. Just keep in touch with your admissions person, like once a month.

Does anyone have an estimate on the probability of winning the Paul Tulane award or DHS? I’m curious how many people apply. Also, does anyone have an estimate on the number of presidential scholarships offered by Tulane
