2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

is there any chance if i took the November SAT and by the time i get the scores back I still haven’t heard from Tulane I could send in my scores and they would consider them?

@Hi1997‌ - Sure, if the timing worked out that way.

Does Gibson update your status overnight?

@Hi1997 if I remember correctly from the live online chat earlier this week, you can send in your scores. However, you need to contact your region rep and make sure they know that you are sending in another SAT score report.

thanks so much! @Ruggy7‌ @fallenchemist‌

Son in CT accepted. SAT 2210, GPA W 3.75. Super competitive Public HS. Tons of APs and Honors. Strong ECs

@ctmom19 what high school?

I submitted my stuff end of september and Gibson has said they have all my stuff for a month. I am from texas, when will I find out. Super nervous. How will i find out?

@sam0267‌ - Just keep checking Gibson. But try checking only twice a day so you don’t drive yourself crazy.

when does tulane typically begin notifying about deferrals?

@Hi1997‌ - Usually near the Dec 15 deadline.

But before everyone starts saying “Oh, I must be deferred because it is getting close to that date and I haven’t heard”, that is what everyone was saying last year and then there were a bunch of acceptances in early December and right up until the 15th. To be sure, there were deferrals as well. But not hearing until towards the deadline DOES NOT indicate a sure deferral.

@sam0267 I’m from Texas and haven’t heard anything either, so I feel you about how hard it is to wait. If I hear anything I’ll be sure to post as soon as I get my result

@fallenchemist‌
Is it highly unlikely for someone with strong EC’s but a 27-28 ACT and 1830-1880 SAT to get accepted? All of the test scores have been very high…

@iizzyy7‌

Well, of course that is impossible to answer because besides the test scores and EC’s there are the other factors that go into a decision, with GPA being a huge one. Not only the GPA itself, but how many advanced courses one took. Then there are the essays and the note from the guidance counselor. Certainly students with the test scores you mention do get accepted to Tulane, but it is less than 25% of the incoming class. Don’t get depressed by the scores you see on College Confidential. CC by its nature is tilted towards the top academic demographic overall. It is decidedly not representative of the overall applicant pool.
