Hey guys I have a question

Yesterday I applied to Tulane and I accidentally put my weighted GPA rather than my UW because when I checked on Naviance, it showed my weighted GPA where the UW should be. I didn’t realize this until now. Also I didn’t do the ‘Why Tulane’. I had started it but I didn’t want it to hurt my chances if it wasn’t a great essay. I see a lot of the kids who got accepted are saying they answered that essay. Will these things hurt my chances?

I did however apply for the Paul Tulane Award, will admissions officers like the fact that I’m really interested in Tulane?

I have: 31 ACT: 31E 34M 30R 28S 10 Writing
92.2 UW/ 95 W
Good ECs
I’d hope my Letters of Rec are strong ones

I’ll have 5 IB Classes and 1 AP (Calculus) by the end of Senior year (some IB Classes are 2 years)

@Castigations: You should definitely do “Why Tulane?” You’re making a big mistake by not telling the admission folks what you like most about the school. Applying for the Paul Tulane award shows interest in the money more than in the institution. You can still send in a “Why Tulane?” essay (but do it promptly) and in your cover letter, correct the GPA error as well (even though the admission officials will see the actual UW GPA on your school transcript. But in your cover note, you can explain why you made the error.)

How do I do all of this? @Sally_Rubenstone‌ Thanks!

Gibson isn’t working for me? It keeps redirecting me to the beta version whenever I try to log in. Is anyone else having the same issue?

I applied October 14th and still haven’t heard anything

I applied September 4th.

@Castigations: Tulane asks for documents to be sent in .pdf form to this address: submitTUdocs@tulane.edu I would also suggest sending a copy to your regional rep with a cover note. Do know the name of your regional rep? If not, it’s on the Tulane Web site. You can tell your rep that the essay was sent separately and not as part of your application so that you’re attaching a copy just to make sure that it arrives in a timely manner. You can also explain the little GPA snafu in the same message.

They changed their site. Just tried to login and had difficulty. Google check Tulane Check Admissions. Enter in user name and password and after several tries I was able to login. However, the interface is different from last week. My daughter applied in early September with all of her information complete by late September and the application is still awaiting review.

Tried the website several times (including the “new Gibson”) and it’s not working.

If one were to comb through the past few years posts, one would see that Gibson has these little hiccups every year. I have no idea why, and I have no idea why it cannot be fixed. No sense having the same conversation all over again, unless it makes people feel better to do so in which case no problem.

But my best advice is that when Gibson seems to be having problems, just wait a few hours and try again, or even wait until the next day. If I could pick one thing that Tulane most needed to fix, this might actually be it! But in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t the end of the world. It is just especially unfortunate because so many that are checking are quite stressed.

@Sally_Rubenstone‌ Thanks so much! I emailed my ‘why tulane?’ prompt to my regional rep, the submitTUdoc email, and the undergrad admissions email (because they said to on their website). I also emailed my regional rep telling her about the misinformation on my application, and the correction. How long do I have to send in my ACT scores?
