2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

@Castigations–Send your ACT scores immediately, if you haven’t ordered them already but you don’t need to pay for any RUSH services. Presumably you self-reported your ACT on your application. And, if your school counselor hasn’t sent in his/her part of your application yet, ask if you can get the ACT inserted there as well. Although Tulane will ultimately consider only the official version that comes from the ACT headquarters, the admission committee can get started on your review with the unofficial scores.

I saw my decision on Gibson this morning! I applied EA about a week ago.

**Decision: Accepted

[/ul]

I’m shocked that I heard back from them this early in the process. I only applied last week! I’m really excited! Good luck everybody, and congratulations to everyone that’s been accepted so far!

@akacesfan‌ congrats!! Exactly what day was your app marked complete? Just curious.

Has anyone from the NYC area heard back yet? Thanks.

Still have not heard back from texas. AWW!

Hello FallenChemist or any knowledgable person - What percent of students get the presidential scholarships (32k per year one) ?

I cant access Gibson anymore? anyone else having this issue?

Yup it no longer works.

Looks like they are re-doing their portal … try this link:

https://gibson.tulane.edu/

At the top right, click on sign in. You will see a different looking entrance portal … enter your usual sign in information. You should then be taken back to the page you linked to above but now customized for you. Just click on “applicant” near the top for latest information, I assume.

I may have found a convoluted way to check, but I’m not sure it will work for everyone. When I signed into Gibson I was brought to a blank page, but when I went back to <a href=“Application Status | Undergraduate Admission”>Application Status | Undergraduate Admission; and selected Application Status from the pull down menu under Admissions. That took me to gibsone.tulane.edu, and I clicked on the “APPLICANT” icon on the top of the page. This brought me to my status, which unfortunately still says that my application is complete and awaiting review. Hope this works for others.

I read somewhere that 34 percent of EA applicants are accepted as opposed to the 25 percent or so total applicants that are accepted. what percent of EA applicants do you guys predict to be deferred? I don’t imagine that i will be in 34 percent of EA to be accepted because i only have a 29 on my act, 3.7 uw and decent EC’s. I wrote a personal Why Tulane essay and i indicated that i will be taking the ACT again in December so i think they will defer me and put me with the regular applicants. Does that sound about right?

**Decision: Accepted

School/major: undecided

Objective:

[ul]

Reflection

[ul]
[]Strengths: scores, etc.
[]Weaknesses: I submitted the wrong essay and sent in the real one after submitting my app, so I was a a little bit worried, but thankfully it turned out okay!
[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: good academic numbers
[]Where else you are applying or have already applied: lots of places…
[li]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: don’t submit the wrong essay!!! :)[/li][/ul]

Decision (for D)- Accepted with Premier Scholarship/Honors invitation.

Global Health (?)

ACT 33
SAT 740M 730 R 720 W
GPA 4.0/4.7
Class rank 2/190

ECs are very strong.

Congratulations/good luck, everyone! This applicant pool looks very strong overall.

I’m trying to understand why some kids are hearing about decisions while others are not. It doesn’t seem to be based on submission date nor is it based on test scores so what is the deal? And its not because the file is incomplete or the why Tulane essay not being completed. Any ideas???

To finish some things I missed on my previous post:

Other
State (if domestic applicant): MD
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Private, Catholic, All-Girls
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket:
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None? My grandfather was legacy

Reflection
Where else you are applying or have already applied: UVA, UMD, Fordham, Penn State, Northeastern, Georgetown, South Carolina, Villanova already, still have McGill to do, and maybe Columbia depending on how Early Action goes

Very excited about Tulane, especially the merit package they gave me. Good luck to everyone and maybe we’ll all be a part of the Green Wave together!!

I could be wrong, but I think part of it depends on your location. The admission’s rep for certain areas may be inundated, and that could be the reason for hearing back later. Also, if there were additional items, such as an arts supplement, that would require a review by a different department. I’m just speculating. So far, the people that posted on CC are off the charts in terms of stats, but they are also seem to be coming from certain regions.

I just got my official letter today and I got into honors with 30000/year and I posted my stats on page 10 if that helps anyone!

I got my official letter today as well (found out last Tuesday, so it came in less than a week!).

I got Distinguished Scholar status (27k/yr!!!). My stats are posted earlier on more extensively, but in a nutshell: 31 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, editor-in-chief of both newspaper and yearbook, president of 2 organizations (1 an honor society), & 2 part time jobs. also a bunch of community service and other ECs.

I’ll also be applying for the Community Service Scholarship.

it seems to be by test score

Has anyone from the Bay Area, California gotten a decision yet?
