2019 UCF Acceptance/Scholarship Thread

We just got my daughters financial offer and it’s rediculous. We are out if state and they are only offering 2500 in student loans…18000 in a parent unsubsidized loan. She was offered a 14000 merit scholarship at ASU. Not a dime here and they are saying her major has to live downtown which must also stay summer, no option to only live on campus fall and spring. She has a 3.85 unweighted…drum major, national honors society etc…

I got deferred and then waitlisted. UCF is my dream school I hope I get in

Does anyone know when one would expect to hear about FA?

@mcr976 my son was accepted in October and his financial aid fainally appeared on March 1st. Keep checking your portal. Hopefully they are working on getting everything in this month.

If I may ask, are FA offers consistent with what the net price calculator indicates?

@mcr976 calculator was close

@Floridabound15 My D is OOS as well and her fin aid package is a joke too. She was only offered loans. No scholarships or grants. She was offered very generous scholarships from Northern Arizona and Florida Gulf Coast University. I was shocked when she got nothing from UCF. We inquired if UCF would match and we got a big fat No. She has her heart set on UCF and as hard as I try to push her elsewhere, she’s not having any of it.

Hi
My son is OOS. Applied in November. Still no decision posted to the myUCF portal. What is the latest date tha t we may hear back? Is anyone else still waiting to hear back? Thanks

I’m sorry for those that didn’t get great FA. This process has been fascinating. We are in state. My son got a wonderful scholarship from UCF, provost. Nothing from UF. and freshman scholarship at FSU.

I thought the same thing when I opened our UF financial aid and it said congratulations…you can apply for loans and your parents can apply for a parent plus loan…yay us.

Son applied in January and was accepted last week. 33 ACT and 4.4 W GPA. Received Pegasus Bronze $6,000 total.

  1. was the amount low because it was late in the acceptance cycle?
  2. does UCF use FAFSA EFC as a component when doling out merit scholarships?

@FLGDAD merit is based on test scores and gpa not FAFSA. So, you may still get need based still.

Hey is your son doing engineering?

FA doesn’t sound promising. S was accepted just about a month ago and haven’t seen an update on his myUCF page

I was just admitted over the weekend. I applied for the fall but I was offered summer admission and I am accepting it. I was initially deferred then waitlisted and now accepted.

Major: Computer Science
In state
GPA: 3.6 weighted
SAT: 1190
ACT: 25
Volunteer: 105 hours
3 AP Classes
Extra-Circulars: Self taught programmer: created app for my high school along with 15 other apps on the play store, developed many websites and web applications, and created a cool bot in Python that finds Disney World Fastpasses and confirms them for you.

I also got into FSU.

@ethanb5001 when did you get deferred and waitlisted?

@Gramm4 I applied in October and I got deferred at the end of January then waitlisted at the beginning of march.

@ethanb5001 just for comparison, since you said you were also accepted to FSU, were you admitted to FSU summer, fall or pathways? Wondering if UCF is becoming equally competitive?

@FLBeachBaby yes I was admitted to the summer as well.

i applied in september for fall, then deferred in october and waitlisted last month. does anyone know what the odds are of being accepted are?? and how long until i get another decision

@dani3697 I’m sorry to hear you were waitlisted. Last year they only accepted 54 people off the waitlist. That was out of almost 3000 that accepted being placed on the waitlist, so odds are not good. Could you reapply for summer or spring admission? I would assume you would not get a off the waitlist until after May 1.
