2019 UCF Acceptance/Scholarship Thread

@chgoodie thanks so much for that suggestion. Was it you that called or did your daughter call them?

How are you not top 10 knights if you are 3rd in your class? Are you in state?

@Sdowd526 My son finally had a change in his admission status (deferred for further evaluation) on January 17th after submitting his application for summer on October 25th. Those students who have the most competitive gpas and scores receive their decision quicker than those who have less competitive gpas and scores. It is more competitive than ever to get acceptance to UCF. I was reading another thread on the UCF board that a student with a 4.0 and 1200 gpa who applied for fall got summer acceptance instead.
Now I wonder how much longer he will have to wait for a decision. He has been accepted to 3 other universities and is hoping to get an answer by the end of February, since fall housing selection, orientation registration and other important college related things happen in March. Waiting until May for an answer seems risky, especially if you are a freshman who would like to live on campus. Good luck to everyone awaiting an answer.

How long after getting accepted did you find out what scholarship you were being offered?

It was 3 or 4 weeks for me to receive my scholarship info after acceptance.

My son’s acceptance took almost 6 weeks and he was in the early pool, applying in September. He has a 1450, 4.68 and got provost. It took 2 weeks to know scholarship for him. I think their website said 2 week turnaround, but they seemed to get more applicants than ever this year!

@NinjaMom123 My daughter STILL hasn’t heard back and she had also emailed admissions but never got a reply. Do you mind sharing your son’s stats? Hoping he gets a final decision soon. The wait is excruciating for them (and us too!)

@NinjaMom123 I agree- there is no way my son will wait until April/May for an answer. no update on his yet. He’s already heard back from a number of other schools and will probably write UCF off if he doesn’t hear anything concrete by mid-Feb. Too many other decisions need to be made in March. Good Look everyone!

@gizana My son applied at the end of October but did not find out the status until last week. They had an issue with my son’s application due to a missing transcript from a school he transferred from. We had to call them to let them know that all the information was submitted. Within an hour, we got a call back from an admission person letting us know that they’ve made a decision on the application and that we should check the portal. To our surprise, my son got his acceptance. But it took us calling them for them to act on it.

@edubs71 Thanks for that info! So did the portal show that your son’s transcript was missing? Mine shows that they have everything, just that no decision has been made :frowning:

@gizana I have called on behalf of my son multiple times. I have spoken to several people in admissions and even an admissions counselor. Everyone had been very helpful by answering all of my questions. But unfortunately If her status has not changed they will only tell you that they will let you know by May. He has a 3.8 gpa and 1100 sat.

@gizana The portal does show the transcript is still missing message but there is also now a message saying that he has been accepted.

@edubs71 thanks so much for the info. Would you mind sharing stats? I’m curious what stats they are giving acceptance to. My daughter is 3.09 unweighted / 3.92 weighted, and 1320 superscore SAT

@gizana Sure

GPA: 3.7/4.5
SAT: 1490
Rank: 9th out of 293

@edubs71 fantastic stats! Congrats :slight_smile:

UCF just told my S another month! He applied 11/26 via Common App

My daughter applied end of October, still waiting on response. Her weighted GPA is 4.30 and her ACT score is 28. Lots of extra-curricular and volunteer activities. I called to follow up today and got an interesting response. I was told her application is with a team that is converting her GPA to an unweighted GPA, then her application will go the admissions decision committee. Three months to get to the point where they are converting her GPA? I have to say that I am not very impressed with UCF and their admissions process.
