2019 UCF Acceptance/Scholarship Thread

@msciarrino10 did you resubmit scores or grades to UCF after they deferred you, or did they just update to “accepted” on 1/30?

My daughter applied around 10/15 for summer. Was deferred in mid- December and then accepted in early January. GPA: 3.6UW, 4.1W, SAT 1170. She did not submit any additional documentation just kept checking her status. She has already committed - UCF was her first choice!

Just FYI, I called UCF today to verify they received my daughter’s 1st semester grades and was told they did not have them. I then spoke to her guidance counselor who said, yes they had been sent. The guidance counselor then called UCF and was told they actually do have the updated grades but have not recalculated her GPA. Just goes to show you you’ve got to stay on top of this entire process.

Yes

Yes

Yes. I resubmitted my semester grades from the fall and they got back to me after a few weeks saying that I got in. It’s really important that after you get deferred you submit new stuff because it definitely increases your chances @gizana

@Akeeb4316 I think you would still have a shot for summer. They are definitely at a point where most of their offers of admissions are for the summer term. I know a few people who initially applied for fall, but was offered summer instead. You have a very good score and good stats, so I think you will get in. And May 1 is when everybody makes their college decision, so you will definitely hear back before then.

This is super late but I thought I’d give my stats anyway to help others who applied this year and those who are looking to apply within the coming years.

GPA: 3.894 UW / 4.4455 W
SAT: 1340
Rank: top 5% of my class (I believe I’m about 8 out of around 200, but they won’t tell me my exact rank though).

By the end of my senior year I will have taken 11 AP classes: Environmental Science, World History, Microeconomics, English Language, Physics 1, Chemistry, Biology, Physics 2, Statistics, Calculus BC, and English Literature

Besides that I’ve only taken honors classes. I also took an online Art Appreciation course over the summer so I would have room in my schedule to take both Italian and French and still complete my art requirement.

The activities I listed included:
A member of Girl Scouts for 13 years and I completed both my Silver Award and my Gold Award during high school.

Vice President of National Honor Society and helped to create the new tutoring program at my school and have so far completed about 25 hours of community service through NHS.

President of the Italian Club where I coordinated meetings; planned cultural field trips. Helped plan Italian Honor Society induction ceremony (also a member of the Italian HS). I also was awarded the highest Italian grade for all of Italian 3 Honors during my junior year.

Varsity Gymnastics grades 10-12 and won the best teammate award in my junior year.

Key Club 9-12 grade; awarded general membership (9th grade), the diamond award (10th grade) and the silver award (11th grade). I have completed over 200 hours of community service.

Heroes and Cool Kids 10-12; Nominated by teachers based on academics, extracurriculars, character; mentor K-8 children to promote good life choices and dedication to education.

Competitive Dance 9-10 for about 8 hours per week. Was named one of three National finalists in Groove Dance Competition’s National Cover Model Competition.

French Club 9-12; Attend meetings; fundraise, organize cultural field trips; assist with French Honor Society ceremony (also a member of French Honor Society). Was also awarded the highest grade in French 1 and 2 Honors during grades 10 and 11.

Received my Congressional Bronze Medal Award (grade 12) (began working on it in grade 11) ; fulfilled personal goals in the areas of development, exploration, community service and physical fitness over twelve months.

@gold523 your stats are similar to my son and he was admitted last Nov. good luck to you!

i got accepted to ucf during the second or third week of january. i am an instate student, when should i be hearing back about financial aid. it currently just says “No self-service access for this aid year,” what does that mean??? HELP

gizana…not sure if she got in yet, but based on your D’s stats, she should be fine. UCF is by far the hardest I’ve had to deal with during this admission process. They actually don’t seem to have any ‘process’ per se. I was the one who called and told them I am the parent. It may be purely coincidental that she was accepted the next day however, who knows. They also kept sending here daily mailers inviting here to apply to specific programs in the school, which was odd considering they hadn’t accepted her yet. I suspect they often decide but hold out on the notifications.

@jensen25501 financial aid info will not be out until March

I have been receiving those same mails, do you think that it is because I got in and they are just not telling me yet?

Are you accepting admission?
Most likely depending on what UCF offers me.

Should I call the admissions office to see if they have my decision yet? It’s been about 2 months and I want to see if I could go to FSU or UCF…

@e50503 Good luck. We have been told many answers with the latest being we would hear by March. My S applied 11/26

You should. A lot of other posters stated that the Admissions office was very helpful. Sometimes it helps to get on their radar given the high volume of applications they receive.

Is there anyone else that applied before November and is still awaiting a decision?

Yes. I applied in the middle of October and have yet to get an update

For those of you awaiting decisions, have you logged in to my.ucf.edu to check the admissions status? The offer letter will be available there. Secondly, you have to dig to find it (see below), but if your file has been reviewed, it will list what scholarships they are offering you.

I kept clicking on the Scholarships link under undergraduate admissions and it just shows an empty page, so after clicking on pretty much everything on the main menu, I found the fight spot both to view and accept scholarship offers.

• Login to myUCF
• On left hand menu, click on: Student Self Service > Financial Aid > Student Center
• On right side of page, scroll down to the “Admissions” header
• Click on “Scholarship Status”

Scholarship offers should be listed in tiny print. If there is nothing there and it’s been awhile since the acceptance notification, it helps to call or email the admissions and/or scholarship department. My son’s friend received their scholarship offer within 2 weeks of being accepted, so when we heard nothing back after a month, I emailed the scholarship department and they let me know that his residency status had not been confirmed. As soon as documentation was sent in and verified, his scholarship offer was processed within a week. I even received a personal email letting me know that we would be receiving the offer in by mail. While their website lists what scholarship my son will be receiving, we will need to wait for the mailed offer to let us know the dollar amount.
