2020-2021 USC Transfer

My daughter was invited to the Trojan Transfer plan for this upcoming year but is not really wanting to give up the U.S “college” experience. She got into UCLA but declined for a few reasons but is now thinking that probably would have been her best bet to transfer into SC. :frowning: Right now she has heard Santa Monica City College has the most success in getting students into SC but she was accepted into the Honors College at Washington State University (where she is leaning towards) and is confused at which would be the best option. Seems to me a four year university with rigorous classes and great grades would be better than a city college but I am in the dark on all of this. ANY guidance would be helpful! Thank you. I’m such a rookie I didn’t even realize you could appeal the denial. She would have excelled at an interview!

USC seems to prefer in-state community college applicants. If she is on TTP, it shouldn’t matter necessarily where she attends as long as she keeps a high GPA. At a community college, it is a bit easier to achieve that.

Was waiting for a 2020-2021 thread to open. I’m applying for the fall of 2020 for their masters program in computer science

I heard Pasadena City College is also really good for transferring to USC. I didn’t go there, but it has a high transfer rate and a lot of other applicants in the year I applied were from there and accepted from there. Good luck.

So this is the new thread? I applied for the 2019 class but was rejected. I’ll be applying again this year, hopefully with better luck.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Applications for Grad school are open. Anybody apply yet? I’m applying for the Fall of 2020 as a Computer Science (Computer Networks) major

@AndyWarski I applied from PCC and got rejected (bus admin major) :frowning:

@NavyGuy2019 @woshua Best of luck this year.

@woshua What was your GPA again? Good luck man if you decide to apply again.

@sagaciousforever i applied with a 3.5
And yeah I’m going to reapply again lol

@woshua Good luck! I am heading to USC in Spring 2020 and I am so excited.
I am currently taking four classes at my old school so that I will only have two GEs left when I begin at USC.

I’m wondering if anybody knows if a Reed College student has every transferred into USC? I am currently a freshman at Reed and am looking to transfer into USC. Any tips?

I was lurking on CC and decided to swing by this thread. I’m happy to see that some people are trying again this year! Good luck to everyone applying!! I will stick around to provide advice and help answer any questions you all may have about the transfer process. I’m happy to help the next group of prospective Trojans!

If any of you happen to have any questions specific to the Price School, I will definitely be happy to answer them! Price tends to be underrepresented in these threads, so I am happy to provide that representation this year.

I’m applying to transfer to the Marshall School of Business for the Fall 2020 semester from a CC in Orange County. I attended CC in 2010-2012 and didn’t do well, joined the Navy for five years, have been back in school for a year (in my second now) with a 3.8 gpa. I’ve been a full-time student since my separation and have been working a part-time job as well. I’m hoping that my upward trend as a student, military service and (what I consider) to be strong essays will allow me the pleasure of attending USC.

I’m glad to have found these forums with so many hopeful transfers.

@seabee91 I’m sure you have some very interesting things/growth to write about in your essays! Try to connect with your assigned advisor when you have a question that is not easily found or something that relates to you personally. (Not for a dumb question that can be easily googled.) It can be very helpful to have a relationship with them that is productive and helpful (versus needy and obvious).

Thank you for your service and best of luck on life’s next chapter for you - which I hope is becoming a Trojan!

I have been a lurker of previous transfer threads and decided to finally post a comment since I will be applying to USC for Fall of 2020. I will be applying under a computer science major and hopefully I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and best of luck to those who will also be applying this year!

Does anyone know if USC transfer admissions applications are accepted on a rolling basis? Or do none of the applications get looked at until after the deadline?

Not sure if it’s better to turn in my application asap or wait until January, but obviously not too close to the deadline.

Thanks.

@seabee91 USC does not begin reviewing transfer applications until after the February 1st deadline. They also do not “stack” applications. Applications are reviewed randomly, so the date of submission has no impact on when you will hear back from them. I submitted my application last year in late January and ended up hearing back before many people who applied a month or two before I did.

Take your time with the application. Begin working on the essays as soon as possible so that you have plenty of time to review them and make edits before you decide to submit it.

Should I request my CC transcript now for the Common App, even though fall grades won’t be out till late Dec/early Jan?

One of my classes this fall is a pre-req, so I’m not sure if I should wait to request my transcript for the CA. I could always update my transcript through the CA or USC directly, couldn’t I?
