2020 Caltech Discussion Thread

No they don’t give out likely letters and the coaches have almost no say in admissions and all they can do is write a letter of support.

Studying for finals on saturday, but nervously checking my status every 5 seconds

@tutututututuru I haven’t come to terms with rejection. I’ll most likely be rejected from MIT so I have to believe that I can get into Caltech. Coach says 50% of his swimmers got in last year, so I have maybe a 50% chance… but I’m still crying inside. And outside sometimes.
If I get rejected, at least I’ll probably have more time to recuperate than MIT gave me before finals. If we’re going with the whole “Saturday” thing.

I haven’t really either. I don’t expect to get in, really, but I keep imagining this Cinderella story where I open it up and I’m in. Gonna be brutal I think

As the day draws closer, my anxiety levels are increasing. Saturday is going to be a long day…

Deferred from Columbia ED and really hoping for Caltech now

Anyone have any news about the release date?

Nope. They usually announce the day before release. Should be tomorrow.

Okay, thanks!

Is there any evidence that the date is Saturday, or is it just the trend from past years? I’m thinking that Saturday makes sense, just wondering if there’s any proof.
We do know for sure that it’ll be before the 15th, because that’s what they said on College Board.

No, we don’t know for sure it’ll be before the 15th. That’s just a placeholder date. Several schools are going to be after it. We are pretty sure it’ll be Saturday based on the trend.

Plus, It haaaaaas to be Saturday.

If it isn’t tomorrow, I’m going to cry lol

Do they generally notify us of the EA decisions date quite near to the date?

If I’m not mistaken, did they change the Announcements part
"Announcements
Applying Regular Decision? Be sure to complete all testing by the end of December. See our Checklist for other application requirements.

Visiting campus? Our calendar is updated through April 2016. Register beforehand for a tour and information session."

IT used to be October and Mid December or sth.

the wait is killing me lol

Strangely, as we’re getting closer and closer I’m getting less nervous. Though I’m sure tomorrow I’ll be a wreck.

Every college has a different “Decision by” date. The colleges that are releasing after that date have a later “decision by” date. Caltech’s is the 15th.

@aaloin6 Caltech hasn’t released a date yet. Most likely tomorrow, and they’ll probably tell us in a few hours.

So are the odds in our favor for tomorrow? There still hasn’t been any update to Caltech’s website.

It’s agonizing. What is the latest possible date we’ll know?
