2020 Columbia Combined Plan Admissions / Discussions

Seeing that we are getting closer to the announcement date from the previous years I decided to start the discussion thread. Though, it seems like there are far fewer students going for the combined plan this year. Good luck to you all!

Hey! Do you know when we’ll hear back?

Hey  from previous releases it seems that they usually announce the admissions in the first two weeks of april, so hopefully (at the earliest) April 9th? Though, there might be some delays from Covid. Fingers crossed!

Just got the email saying that the result will come out on April 13!

Yeah I did as well!

That email actually scared me a bit cuz it sounds so much like a rejection letter beginning with “thank you for your application…”

Honestly same here, I got rejected from so many colleges back in High School… I could only read the email with one eye open

Same here. It scared the s**t out of me?

lol I can picture you slowly open one eye

I just checked my status and was wait listed.

Did you meet all your requirements? Maybe you are still working on a required course this semester?

got waitlisted as well, I completed all the requirements and met all the gpa requirements. @junhawng what program did you apply for?

I didn’t quite meet the grade requirements due to a small slip up my first year. I applied for the electrical engineering program. What about you?

My son just got his acceptance to Chem Eng, but says a CBB college classmate who supposedly met the pre-reqs/minimum requirements for unknown engineering got Wait Listed.

Also waitlisted, applied for computer science. I smashed every requirement by quite a bit, except I’m not from an affiliate school. The fact that I’m an international student and need financial aid might have played a part as well. Sucks when you can’t make it because of things you can’t control…

I applied to biomedical engineering and I have met all the requirements for guaranteed admission.

For those with admissions any information on financial aid

Yes, and read the instructions CAREFULLY. There’s a NB to NOT use the First Time User button on the following page, which I just don’t understand why they didn’t just remove the First Time User button in the first place. (You have to set up a whole new acct on a diff website to access the F/A award.)

My son’s Columbia grant matched almost exactly his grant at his CBB school this year, except Columbia has more incidental charges added in so in the end it’s quite a bit pricier.

It’s difficult to imagine following the 3-2 plan for 3 years only to be waitlisted. Everything I am reading says colleges and unis this year will go deeper in their waitlist because of the uncertainty in the pandemic-yield rate situation. So, don’t give up.

Thank you for the support! I emailed columbia for more information on why I got waitlisted and am still awaiting a response. Does anyone have any experience with how long they take to answer emails? I’m getting kind of anxious.

Also, do you guys know for sure what their policy is on summer courses? Will they incorporate them into my overall gpa? I think this might be the issue.
