The email I have got said it will happen by the end of this month (January) or next week (which was last week). Oh well…
Her first communication said “late January” and the second said something like “be patient, we are still working on it and will get to it in February”. This is typical of Curtis, from what I have seen on these boards over the years.
D also received email for end of January prescreen results from Curtis.This is undergrad.
I rescheduled Northwestern because of D’s chest cold. Now on 2/15 which buys some time. Next on the list is CMU 2/7 and then fly to Vandy that day for 2/8 audition. Hope a week is enough recovery time.
You know how some schools have the preferred teacher question right? If you audition for a school and your preferred teachers don’t necessarily choose you, do you still have a chance of getting in? Like if other teachers want you, do you still get in?
@MedKey0803 : From experience, if you don’t make your first choice prof, the chances of getting into another studio are slim, unless another prof wants you, in which case, you’re in if you want in.

I want to add my daughter has SUNY Purchase audition 2/17.
Hello Everyone, My son’s focus is viola but also plays piano proficiently. On top of that, he takes percussion studies and is involved in his HS Orchestra and the local areas Youth Symphony. He is looking to go for Music Education, which shocked me because he loves to perform!
A few schools he applied to are: Burklee, Jacob’s School of Music and Ball State.
Burklee: His audition was in Chicago- Early January. He was accepted but was told “due to the competition” there would be no scholarship offer. This is out of our reach financially.
Ball State: He received an academic scholarship and had his Audition on Feb 25th. He believes it went well. From what I understand, we should get notified end of February to early March, if he was accepted to the music program.
JSOM: He received an academic scholarship and has his audition this weekend.
We are really hoping for additional awards/scholarship dollars. Do all parents go through the pins and needles of waiting for results? 
@BigPapi2 - only the normal ones go through pins and needles. Good luck!
@bigpapi2 Oh yes, so much! I think most of us don’t want our musicians to graduate with debt so the awards are key. My son, like yours, got into Berklee without a scholarship. That made it out of the question for us. He did get great offers from several other schools, one of which ended up being right for him. And that’s the good news, I think – music students can score amazing scholarships that make college affordable. Sounds like your S is well on is way.
And by the way – my son is also doing music education, in a double major with performance. Berklee is not as strong a choice for music ed as the others on your list. So your son is in good shape!
@akapiratequeen My cousin suggested that he should, based on her experience, double major! I’m not sure if he’s going to do it but I put the seed in his mind. I think his #1 is Jacob’s and his #2 is Ball State.
There is a local school, (I hate to say it… less prestigious) that with financial aid, he has a full ride in their honors program. In the end, I think we will sit down, look at the choices, look at the amount and make a sound decision. (Sound…music… no pun intended, lol)
