2020 PRE-SCREEN THREAD

@Pl1277 yes, it’s been a real whirlwind. We had no idea how many auditions she would get- like most people, we were flying blind. We applied to a lot of schools to increase the chances of offers; we didn’t expect 15 auditions- nearly every school asked her to come sing live. I planned ahead for the expenses of application fees and travel, but I have exceeded that now. While D and I are happy for these opportunities, the travel takes it toll on energy, academics, and family life for sure. I’m trying my best to relish my time with D, and for the most part it has been wonderful. I do feel like I owe my other kids some time and a weekend away somewhere.

We combined cities on each trip, but as a result didn’t get the “full experience” at some places. Not every trip had a lesson scheduled; two regional auditions were convenient but we didn’t see campus. It’s so hard to balance it all, but we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. If we need to take one last trip to decide, then maybe we have to do that.

I realized I haven’t checked up on this thread in a while! My Eastman audition is actually going to be 2/21, and Mannes is 3/2. NYU was my first one, on 1/17. I ended up doing a video audition for Syracuse. SUNY Purchase was yesterday…not my best but oh well. Three more to go! Now we’re getting to the waiting period, oh boy.

@coloraturagirl my S had a very promising audition at Bienen/Northwestern a few weeks ago. When we went to the Umich SMTD audition, the admissions panel told the kids that if they were asked to audition, they had pass the academic hurdle. Do you know if that’s the case on Bienen/Northwestern?
