Is it 1/26? Bost Con had piano and composition on same day last year 
Did anyone have any experiences with late letters of recommendations? We just noticed that one of my daughter’s teachers did not send her recommendations to Eastman. I am sure she just forgot, as she did sent letters of rec. to couple of other schools. Do you think now that the deadline has passed, there is no chance for her to send them?
@MezzoMama our son’s teacher insisted that his “deadline” for the recommendation was Dec 15 even though the app deadline was Dec 1st for most schools. So S emailed the admissions people (not Eastman) and they said it was fine for it to arrive after the deadline, but try not to be too late.
At two other schools he visited in person, they also were not too concerned about the rec coming later than the deadline. Hopefully an Eastman parent would have more specific info, but you could email admissions to be sure. Honestly it’s been frustrating dealing with recommenders who procrastinate so much.
Thank you for reply. This makes sense… I am not a fan of her going very far from CA, but better have lots of options. I am sure Eastman will be understanding of this little mishap. Her teacher just made an honest mistake.
Eastman parent here. Give them a call, it’s a tiny admissions office and they will certainly be forgiving. I would definitely send it, though; our experience is that they very carefully read every piece of material we sent. In fact, Eastman was the only school (of seven) that sent personalized acceptance letters referencing the recommendation letters and saying they helped with the final decision. My son’s letter said something like, “Your recommenders said that you were dedicated and enthusiastic in everything you undertook; this, along with your audition and … etc… makes us feel you would be a good fit for Eastman.” My son was really impressed by this; it set the school apart for him.

@ClassCompMom - Good luck to your son with SFCM and Peabody. I think my daughter has a tinge of regret about doing the video auditions, but we just had to knock some potential travel off the list. But it feels like it will take forever to hear anything with the video. I hope your son hears good news soon!

@MezzoMama, a big yes. Two of our recommenders were MIA as the deadlines approached and it was highly stressful. Some people said late letters wouldn’t matter but we were afraid to test that theory given that every school on our list was important to us. These folks writing recommendations are generous individuals as these letters take valuable time - I’ve done several myself - so I’m always afraid to nag too much. It’s hard to find that balance.
I agree about calling. You have nothing to lose and your daughter demonstrates that she considers her app to ESM important.

@flutyMcFluteface we’re waiting for NEC too - last year he didn’t hear about prescreen until January 10. Not sure about Eastman - he didn’t apply because of hard copies (his recordings didn’t get to us until the Friday before) but they reached out to see if he still wanted to apply and we sent materials they requested - we’re waiting to hear if they’ll consider still. Sigh. But @akapiratequeen has a good point - they were just lovely.
I’m sure this has been asked before on this thread but does anyone have an idea of when USC will email about live auditions? And does anyone have an idea of how many people will be invited to audition and how many they accept in the popular music program?
@mom2jw, my son received his live audition invitation on December 14, 2018. He auditioned for the jazz studies program. I don’t know how many people are invited to audition or accepted into the popular music program, but I know the program is thriving and a good number of people are accepted into the program each year. @MezzoMama - My daughter did the video audition only instead of a pre-screen/live audition. So she won’t hear anything from them until March when they send acceptance letters. It’s so hard to not have any news at all. I hope your daughter hears something soon!
