2021 Caltech Discussion Thread

Congrats to everyone who got in today! I’m a freshman Techer and would be willing to answer any questions you have!

No, I didn’t get any email either. I suppose that’s sort of odd. @vanillatte

@dsi411 Maybe they send physical letters instead? Well, at least I know I’m not the only one

@vanillatte @dsi411 no physical admission letter, and from what i remember nothing much if at all in the way of emails either. they do send a customized postcard (they ask students staying at tech over winter break to help write them) but i didn’t receive mine until i got home from prefrosh weekend in april…unfortunately, that confetti-filled letter on the portal is all you have for now!

I got accepted and am waiting on a sent an application to MIT which I will hear from Thursday. Congrats to my possible future classmates who also got in! It’s a real feat.

For those applying RD there’s a group chat on groupme you can join, here’s the link. Good lucj guys! https://■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/27289081/du9WZ0

Are we allowed to submit research abstracts through the student portal, or can we only send the full research paper?

There’s a groupme for Caltech applicants if anyone would like to join! https://■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/27289081/du9WZ0

When/where will Caltech release their decision date?

A day before MIT I think. 3/13/17

I wish I had applied EA here

5 days!!

Are you guys sure it’s not 3/11?? I think it might be 3/11

Isn’t it always pi day?

MIT decisions are on pi day. CalTech traditionally releases a day or two ahead of MIT.

The checklist is no longer on the portal. Could the date still be 3/11/2017?

THE CHECKLIST IS NO LONGER ON THE PORTAL AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

LET’S GET SOME HYPE

I’m not sure the checklist disappearing is a huge deal. Last year it disappeared 5 days before decisions were released.

well it just means that the decision really is imminent.
I think it’s gonna be AT LEAST Mar 13th. If we’re lucky enough then it’s gonna be March 11th…
