2021 Fall Stanford Transfer Thread

Wonder why everythings so quiet this year? Last year transfer threads were exploding

can I ask why you are wanting to be at Stanford?

childhood dream maybe? i want to do my phd at either stanford or berkeley (there are a few specific profs who i want to work with) so getting in now will allow me to build a rapport and start working with them alr
i like the culture of stanford and the community and such. im hoping my research and academics gets me in

do they accept international transfer students? if yes, what is an approximate number?
thanks :pray:t4:

Yes, they do accept international transfer applicants, though I don’t know the exact number. (I’ll leave that to someone else to answer, haha, sorry!) Good luck!

they do however i heard from previous years that they accept very few (maybe a couple?) international. also looking at past forums, it seems that they majorly accept those who follows non-trad route such as veterans and community college students and you would need a really good reason why you want to transfer out of your four year university (if you were already enrolled in like UCB for example)

Just saw a typo in one of my essays, pray for me

hahah dont worry about it, they will most likely overlook but if your application has typos all over, then maybe that would be a diff story lmao

Does anybody else’s required materials still say missing on their portal? Despite having sent them a while back via their email: credentials@stanford.edu ?

Yes, I called and spoke to a woman in the AO. She said, “don’t worry, and routinely monitor your email. We will send you an email shortly ( I think after they release their decisions and then they start working on the transfer pool) if you’re missing materials and how to submit them for your application”.

Haha you’re fine. One typo won’t result in an automatic rejection. They know we are human.

Thank you!! I’ve been quite worried.

I hear you and understand why you’d be worried! This whole transfer thing is nerve racking.

I had like 3-4 materials missing on my checklist and 2-3 of them showed up only a few days ago despite having been sent well over a month ago; and I still see that my high school transcript is missing even though I also sent that a while ago. It’s totally fine! Also, I feel you when you say you were worried. I was the same when I first applied to these colleges! Don’t worry too much about it, though!

This whole thread is so quiet makes me nervous cause I don’t know what other applicants’ qualifications are. I am also possibly excited thinking significantly fewer people applied. What do you guys think, I know obsessing over it does not help, nonetheless, I am?

wait really? significantly fewer people applied?

I can’t even qualify my application. I very much fall into the “untraditional” student application pool, so my entire application is likely a meaningless barometer for you.

I probably will still be “rejected” (It’s such BS that they dont even reject you, they just dont invite you to join them).

Yeah surprisingly this thread is relatively dead compared to previous years

I actually think the number of applicants will significantly increase this year. When they remove certain requirements such as the SAT/ACT requirement, it will attract way more applicants. Same story with the ivies, they delayed the decisions because they receive a significant increase in the amount of applicants.

It could be either. One thing I know for certain, regardless of whether the number of applications increased or decreased, is that whoever gets in this year will be the same people that would’ve gotten in in a normal admission cycle with no COVID. These unprecedented circumstances and changed requirements should make little to no impact on the final decisions, if that makes sense. It all depends on your personal qualities (more so than on your qualifications, so-called “stats”), so y’all should believe in yourself and try to enjoy the suspense of the waiting part.
