2021 Stocking Stuffers Thread

Yes! Each one is wrapped, as I recall

Just ordered!

I called TJ on Sunday to see if they had waxed amaryllis bulbs. They said gone for the day, but their shipments arrive around 5pm. We got there around 5pm, and there were a bunch on the shelf. Limit 2 per customer. Now I have them in paper bag, trying to decide how to mail.

I totally don’t know what is special about these bulbs that everyone is scooping them up for stocking stuffers. I’m not being sarcastic, I just don’t get it! It’s a flower, right? And what’s the point of the coating?? Educate me!!

You don’t have to remember to water them! That’s what is special.

Normally I send Dad and his wife boxed gift amaryllis, which they love. But this year they literally have their hands overly full due to two recent falls (one with a broken arm). So “something different”, needing no planting or watering, seemed a fun idea.

And… at $7.99 the TJ version are lots cheaper than some of the mail order versions of same. I still would spent the 4x for nicer mail order ones, but the brand recommended here was backordered when I checked.

Ahh, as a plant lady I am unaware! I’ll just keeping watering my plants !

So I bought those waxed amaryllis bulbs from Costco and the packages says to remove from the packaging immediately. I am planning on using them as Christmas gifts. Can I leave them alone? I have them in the closet right now. Do I have to take them out? Inquiring minds want to know!

I know it doesn’t fit in a stocking, but do you think a sling bag like this would make a good Chanukah gift for my 20-something niece and nephew (she would get flamingos; he would get stars)? Otherwise I will have to figure out some kind of cooking thingie.

Last year I sent them each this:

All young adults are different of course! My three prefer a “hip purse” that is a little more structured and they would be a “no” to any print.

My young adults are minimalists and tend to like black. I’ve bought D many black bags. S has black backpacks.

@Marilyn my kids would have thanked the sender for the printed bags…and would have donated them someplace. Not into prints for something like this. DD might have liked a print wallet that would go inside her bag…but no flamingos on the outside.

My niece has a thing for flamingos and, I believe, raccoons. But I get it, no prints.

edit: Just sent my niece the flamingo spatulas and my nephew the beach chair ones. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082PC94H1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Love Stash It bags. They fold up easily so you are never without a grocery bag. They are on sale this weekend for 30% off.

Speaking of reusable bags, these are awesome! Machine washable and quick-drying! Compact into a tiny ball - fit into my wallet on a chain.

I love my baggu bags. I even have one to carry wine in. They wash up great and last for many years.

Cool site. Not quite a stocking stuffer, but I discovered that what I really want for Christmas is a Bodyboss home gym! Somehow, the grommet site reminds me that I miss paper catalogs. I am glad they are gone for ecological reasons, but I used to love sitting down with a big stack of dog-eared catalogs each year about this time. J. Peterman, Vermont Country Store and so on and so on.

I still get a J. Peterman catalog once a year and it is a real treat. I haven’t ordered anything in probably 20 years, but I love to browse through it.
