With all COVID uncertainty, is it better to just commit now, or wait to see how things unfold. Thinking about admissions risks, financial aid, and competition from deferring 2020s (both generally in admissions and also on team rosters). If it’s a dream school and you’re willing to pay sticker price, maybe committing now makes sense, all the while understanding the various risks - including teams being cut potentially.
Depends on the specifics. But anyone committing should already know the FA and admissions situation. Whether teams will be cut is harder to predict and definitely more of a risk this year than others. I’m not sure the risk disappears before most apps are due at selective schools though. So if the goal is to get into a selective school using athletics as a hook, recruits can only wait for so long.
Thanks - this is a really helpful perspective.
