2023 PSU Waiting for Decisions

As the parent who originated this conversation, I want you all to know I am honestly praying that you all hear soon! I know it feels unfair and drug out too long, but it WILL work out in the end. Sometimes you need to try not to stress, maybe something better is coming along for your child regardless if their decision. Best wishes for EVERYONE!

After getting the error message last night and still again this morning, we just learned that our son has been admitted to Engineering at UP. Wahoo! Stats on the admit page. Congrats to those who also heard today, and best of luck to those who are still waiting!

Error message for us turned into accepted for us too!!!

Good Luck to everyone!! Will post stats in decision thread.

Congrats to all! This really is the most exciting time of the year. And Iā€™m sure many more acceptances will be coming out. If you and your kid are on board with PSU, you may want to pay your deposit and accept the offer as housing is assigned based on when you commit. Not when accepted. You guys (or your kiddos) are sooooo lucky because there will be a number of renovated dorms at UP next year, especially in East which is historically all freshmen. I mention this because if you havenā€™t heard back, you will still have a really good shot at getting some nice housing options if you jump on the acceptance within the next month. I just wouldnā€™t wait too long.

Does anyone know if you are able to change your admission to Summer? Like letā€™s say you get into UP for Fall 2019 would you be able to start in the Summer instead if you applied with Fall and Summer Session as a backup ?

My daughter has the error message for a few hours a few weeks ago, but nothing came of it and it resolved itself.

Still waiting on a decision after applying during the last week of Augustā€¦

@collegegirl2023 , I vaguely recall hearing students do that after gaining acceptance to fall. You would just call admissions after you get your acceptance. You just canā€™t go the other way. If you are accepted to summer and it was your second choice to fall, you canā€™t attempt to switch back to fall as technically you were evaluated for fall initially and rejected. Some applicants make the mistake and assume they can sneak into UP by selecting summer and changing to fall. But what you are suggesting is typically fine, at least from what Iā€™ve read elsewhere.

Summer LEAP program is awesome but expensive so make sure your parents are okay with the extra cost. The only downside is you miss your last summer at home and with friends, and you may feel a little burned out by the end of freshmen year because you technically didnā€™t have a break going into your freshmen year. But in my opinion, and my daughter would agree, itā€™s the best decision she ever made.

@Sophley Iā€™m just wondering about these deposits. I canā€™t find the amounts, but it looks like you have to make a deposit, pay an enrollment fee and a housing deposit. Itā€™s so early in the process, Iā€™m wondering if you need to do this soon when you still havenā€™t heard from most of your schools. Also, at what point is the "good housing"gone? Do you know what the deposit amt is and if itā€™s refunded? Thank you.

Youā€™re good for December and January with no problem.

@MYOS1634 Thank you so much!

Congrats everyone! PLEASE post in the decisions thread! It helps future students!

@amomoffour , @txmom2016, @citymama9 @mamawitch, congratulations to you all on the great news!

@ziveli513 Thank you! Hang tight. What today showed me was that kids with all kinds of stats are starting to hear. Your child will be hearing soon. Good luck.

@citymama9 thank you very much, how kind!

@citymama9 , my daughters year it was like $330, I believe. Nothing earth shattering. Again, given all the renovated dorms, you should be fine for the next month or two. When your daughter joins the class FB page, she can also try to find a roommate with similar interests who committed early. My daughter got in the ONLY renovated dorm in east at the time by finding a roommate who had committed in early Dec. if you need to compare financial aid offers to make it work, I would hold off. And I wouldnā€™t do it unless PSU is your daughterā€™s first choice.

@citymama9 Congrats to your D!

Can someone post the link to the decisions thread I donā€™t see it anywhere? Thanks

@wisteria100 Thanks so much:))

@citymama9 After you accept your offer, you then are directed to a housing and food contract. Once you accept that contract, you pay $330 on line (non-refundable if you decide to withdraw acceptance later on). You can wait to make your choice of dorm and food plan. We accepted housing and food contract on 11-28, did some research, then made dorm and meal plan selections on 12-1 (you can change both at any time over next few months if you have a change of heart-you get a first and second preference). Good luck!
