Why would Columbia be the only ivy âopenâ still ?
Why wouldnât it?
Guys is the instagram page roar 2025 accessible to only admitted students or can waitlisted join as well?
Simply because the others are allegedly closed. What makes Columbia different in that way ?
Because theyâre still figuring out their transfer class. They released their decisions significantly later than the other Ivies. Maybe they have international students who may not be able to obtain visas, maybe there are current students who have asked for a leave of absence or have given notice of their decision to transfer out, maybe thereâs a possibility that some study abroad programs are opening up for current students, all could affect the number of transfer spots.
Most international students wonât be able to obtain visas until August, so thatâs certainly not a factor (Iâm saying this as an international student, with friends going to Columbia in the UK, France, Germany, Singapore, UAE, Finland, South Korea).
But I agree with vpa2019, Columbia is only the ivy who still have their waitlist open. It could be because they are figuring out their transfer class. Or just because they donât want to close the waitlist until the date they said (June 30 if Iâm not mistaken).
The roar2025 page is only for admitted students from what I understand.
You could try to request them anyway.
Thank you for the excellent explanation. a good checklist of logical possibilities.
What do you mean most international students wonât be able to obtain visas til August? Isnât that too late for many schools?
Any updates?
I did! They accepted me
Amazing, congrats! Just yesterday? Via email/portal? Would you mind sharing your major?
Congratulations!! when did you find out?

Thank you for explaining and good luck.
Nope not at all. In a lot of countries, youâll actually receive visa appointment dates for December. But then you just state that the start date of your university, and theyâll expedite your appointment in time. Start date for me in September 7 (with move in on August 29), so my visa appointment is in the first week of August and Iâll receive it within a couple of days after the appointment.
Itâs the same for all my friends too, with varying visa appointment dates depending on the start date of their university.
Say something happens and you donât get your visa on time, a lot of universities including Columbia will allow you to join online, or if youâre able to get the visa within 2 weeks of school starting, youâre still welcome in.
