I hope you’re right! Good luck to you too!
do people recommend doing more (emailing admissions, talking to people at the school) than the loci for waitlisted applicants? i know that at some schools it’s considered taboo to do any more than the letter.
I know this has nothing to do with Columbia, but my friend did get off the WashU waitlist so I am assuming that line will move fast (or that more people will get off waitlist)?
since the SIR date has passed, i assume more schools are going to be taking students off the waitlist now that they have a rough number of who is going to be enrolling.
It’s difficult to say. WashU released some information regarding total accepted and anticipated class size. They did not release the number accepted ED. But if the number accepted ED was roughly the same as prior years, then they forecasted a significant increase in RD yield to get to their desired class size of about 1810. If they only met their prior RD yield high, that would leave them about 150 students short. Keep in mind the high ED yield last year netted them almost 2,000, so reducing admissions as much as they did and hoping to yield at a much higher clip was pretty ambitious.
In other words: I wouldn’t assume their WL movement is a sign we’ll be seeing it elsewhere. If they were forecasting at last year’s yield, it would probably be easier to think those trends would apply at similar schools and those “downstream” like Emory, BU, etc. But I’m not sure even then you could apply that to a Columbia, Penn, etc.
Is there going to be a wave today?
That would be great…. If so, likely around 5 pm
it is so early though, they said they would start bo earlier than the 15th
Does anyone know what Columbia’s website mentioned last year with regards to waitlist dates in May? Did they say “no sooner” than a specific date?
No sooner than May 15th.
The website says “no earlier than May 15,” so I doubt that there will be a wave today.
Can we call Columbia and ask them if, depending on the yield rate this rate, they are planning to use the waitlist or not?
go for it
Let us know what they say…
I called Columbia…they did not say much because they cannot disclose information. They wouldn’t even tell me if they were going to use the waitlist or not. Someone else might want to try and call and see if they can speak with another representative and get more intel about waitlist.
has anyone got off the waitlist?
Did everyone submit an LOCI?
I did
not that I know of
What did you really write about?
