2070 - bad idea to EA Yale?

It's sub par for Yale.

1400 is sub par for yale-so if u can increase your total score to 1500+, you odds will go up greatly and you will have a 1 in 10 shot of getting in.

ok, I'm applying with a 1400 (2080). it's like 1/20 of my application and it's in the mid 50% percentile according to USNews. ;)

m; 690
v; 710
w; 680

that is the breakdown. I was actually thrilled to get it without any preparation.

noone said you have to believe me, I got a 1550 and assumed that I was above average too.

haha, so many ppl refer to me as he...><
i'm a she...lol, sigh, i hope to increase my SATs in Oct and the practice tests seem to be okay (2250~) but one CCer mentioned that my EC's aren't good enough for yale...so i'll consider that too. Anyways, my hopes rn't that high...i think i'll go w/ RD if at all.

if you know for sure that you really want to go to yale, apply ea, even if your scores don't go up. You probably hear this a lot on these boards, but I'll say it again. Pretty much everyone who applies to the ultra selective ivys have perfect grades/sat scores, clubs, sports, etc..., so the have the luxury of picking exactly who they need to fit their "diversity" targets. If they are looking for a trumpet player from Montana, they will take him over a trumpet player from NY. Noone should get there hopes up at this point when applying to a place to Yale, but who knows, you might be that person they're looking for. Good luck

At my info session a few nights ago, they told us that EA is actually more competitive because the applicants are generally more qualified (not true in all cases though) and they keep 2/3 of the class open for RD applicants.

This year, 48% of the slots were filled via EA, and an as yet unreported fraction of the RD admits were, in fact, EA applicants who were deferred earlier .... so that a majority of the class was filled from the much smaller EA pool rather than the pool of true RD applicants.

Off topic, but I thought 2070 meant grad year and that it was a spoof post.

It was funny until I realize it was her SAT score.

Doh.
