2070 SAT--shooting for UPenn, ugh

Hey guys...I need some advice..(well, not really advice, but idk..)
so i visited Penn in the spring and fell in LOVE with it..and i'm gonna apply there ED and cross my fingers that i will somehow manage to get in

...please tell me if i'm dreaming..or not...

my SAT II scores, in my opinion are decent enough
740 Chem
760 Math II
630 Spanish (but let's not talk about this one! haha..)

i'm currently 4/400+ kids in my school, idk what my unweighted GPA is..but i imagine it's good enough for Penn

I'm not gonna list my ECs bc (not trying to be arrogant) i think they are good enough

I think my essays will at least catch the eye, and i will try to showcase my enthusiasm for Penn in the Why Penn essay.

..i've just been quite down about it lately..bc i dream of going to Penn..and i feel like my downfall would be this sucky SAT score (my ACT is just as bad...but i'm going to retake it in Sept, hoping for a higher score)

..oh..and i'm an asian female...if that lowers my chances at all hah...

How does that 2070 SAT break down?

700 math 700 writing 670 CR
…i mean, its in the 25-75% tile…but i’m also asian…haha

is this PENN or WHARTON? big difference. If it’s not wharton, you have a decent chance. If it’s wharton, you have a lesser chance.

no, not wharton…the college. haha, i’ve no interest in business.

I think you have a pretty competitive chance… Don’t be intimidated by all the ccers with 2300+ scores… go for it!

what is the acceptance difference for the college vs wharton

there’s a pretty big difference…haha i’m not sure of the exact numbers tho…

@sopheebliss: ooh…don’t worry, i’m pretty intimidated by those scroes! lulz

go for it! id say you have a good chance =p

I think you have a splendid chance.

Go get em!

Chance me back?

this wasn’t suppoed to be a chance thread…i don’t know what its supposed to be…analyzing the importance of SATs for Penn? haha…idkk

& LULZ @ bubles. your funny.

I would wait and apply RD with higher scores. A few years ago I would have said you had a chance with those scores but not today.

Don’t hope for a higher score. STUDY! I’m not trying to be rude, but being asian makes it more difficult to get into college, becasue a bunch of asian kids, especially the ones applying to ivy league schools, have perfect everything, including SAT scores. And, despite what anyone may tell you, SAT scores can make or break your application. If you really want the UPenn admissions office to take our application seriously, you need at least a 2250. Here’s a link to an article (that was written by a half-asian female) that will break it down for you.

Retake the SAT in September. Study until then. You have a great chance with your class rank. Be sure to apply ED and I think you’ll get in!

Yes retake in september or october, your SAT II are fine. Just show Penn that you’re a person and why you love the institution. The Ivies usually go for the ec so you should write an essay on that.

^^yea, i have! lol…actually, i’m not gonna retake the SAT, i’m gonna retake the ACT … i took my SAT twice, and i actually did worse my second time…i studied a lot for it…idk if its cuz i didn’t study correctly or what cuz no matter how many books i go through, i manage to do worse…so i’ve decided to give the ACT another shot…i’m studying a lot for it, don’t worry…but so far, idk…it still doesn’t seem like my ACTs are gonna go up dramatically either…but who knows right? sigh…

thanks everyone though for the encouragement!

good chances but in my opinion try to break 1400 (CR+M). Try to improve your math - it’s not so hard to increase your score with at least 50 points that is likely to get you into UPenn

[Chance me for Dartmouth, and some other business schools that have great math departments](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/756278-what-my-chances-dartmouth-brown.html)

I would advise you to take the ACT. I got your exact same SAT score but then took the ACT and got a 34. And as you can see it worked out fine. And another bonus of taking the ACT is that schools like: Yale, Duke, and Penn, allow you to send only the ACT (w/writing) and you don’t have to send in SAT OR SAT 2 scores, if I am not mistaken.

i am in this position now, exact same subscores, and i was wondering if it is possible to get into Wharton. i have a LOT of hooks and passion for penn. i want to go there so badly, i just don’t standardize test well.
