2100 for Princeton?

Too low? honestly. would i need like a miracle to get in with that. and i'm from nj. like i have everything else (straight As in most rigorous ciriculuum, 8 APs, good ecs...). i know for a fact its a loooooooooong shot but is it an impossible one?

If the rest of your application is strong, a 2100 won't necessarily doom you.

Good Luck!

Now I feel terrible for making a thread asking if a 2260 was too low :P
I don't think a 2100 would help your cause, but perhaps there are some powerful redeeming qualities in other parts of your app? I don't understand how someone with such good grades in rigorous courses got a score like that. Was it just a bad day?

You guys are nuts especially Choi...a 2100 is not a bad score. It's on the low side for Princeton but SAT scores aren't the bulk of the applications decision. 2100 is like top 2% so of course it's worth it to apply to elite colleges like Princeton. There are kids from my high school applying to Princeton with 1900's so don't stress.

Choi is nuts.

Haha, I have a 2180 and I'm worried about my SAT after looking at the 2012 thread in this forum. Most were 2300+ and a lot of the ones that were rejected also were ~2300.

The part that worries me is that in the Princeton decisions thread, there were barely any acceptances that had SATs far off from ~2300. In Harvard and Stanford's decisions threads, there were definitely some scattered 2200 and 2100 acceptances that made me feel more confident. But now after seeing the Princeton thread, I've almost given up hope of getting in.

Anyone would like to disprove me? I'd gladly love an optimistic response.

^ CrystalProphecy, are you a URM? Because that could make up for your scores a little...

It's definitely on the lower side, especially if you're Asian. Personally, I would retake it.

I'm a white male in Arizona. My superscored SAT is 2170. Does this give me a decent chance?

gooood enough! believe me. with a good essay yoou will be in

don't listen to anyone telling you that 2100 is enough. it's barely even on the low side of Princeton's SAT score range. IF you want to have a decent shot, push it to the mid-2200s, unless you're damn confident that you are a special kid.

^ Brutally honest, but probably true.

Since you're not an URM, Princeton might foster some doubts about your scores. Unless you have won some amazing awards or have done some godly things in your high school career, I wouldn't call your chances "decent".

Anyone saying that a 2100 is a BAD score is deluded. 2100 equates to a 700 on each section-- even if one section is a bit higher and one is a bit lower, as long as they're within a reasonable range of each other, it's a very good score. Obviously people do better than that on the SATs, but in life there will always be someone better than you at something.

I won't deny that SATs are important in admissions, because they certainly are, but a score of 2100, which is on the lower side of average for Princeton (but still within the middle 50%!) is not necessarily a detriment.

OP, do you really wanna take that chance with your one and only shot? that it is "not necessarily" a detriment? go look around the decision threads of the past years. find me an asian with your profile who got in with 2100.

your SAT score is one of the few important things you could improve about your application at this juncture. a 2100 is more than likely to keep you out.

The people that get into Princeton with 2100's are people with hooks. The average applicant like most people on this board and probably the OP are not. To feel safe you really want a 2300+ (even that won't ensure anything..PLENTY of 2300's get rejected). At the same time I'm not saying you're going to get rejected because you have a 2100, but unless you're hooked you're gonna need to write some amazing essays to stand out.

honestly, none of us here REALLY KNOW. we can assume but don't let anyone tell you your score is 'bad'. in actuality, 2000+ scores are hard to come by in context of the real world. on CC it might seem incredibly low but don't feel defeated- my 1900 SAT friend got into yale, no hooks other than low income, immigrated to america at 5 years old.

wow a lot of response! Well I just took the December SAT and improved fortunately! Now it's a 730M/710R/760W (1440/2200).

Believe me I still know it's a LONGGG shot. But I can always hope my essays are unique enough..
