jeffandann-- was the Otterbein rejection recent or after prescreen?

Otterbein was the pre-screen, Elon was after her early audition in November.

I agree that this is a very useful thread…the more you know, the less anxiety-provoking the process will be…(except for the Ithaca college thread – that is making me sweat!)

Early audition Shenandoah - rejection letter within two weeks
CCM- auditioned at Unifieds - rejection letter within a week
Both expected though disappointing. I agree it’s all about the fit!

If you audition for Elon in the fall, you will get either a rejection, deferral or acceptance before the year is out, and there are very few flat out acceptances. If you get a deferral at that time, Elon still may be interested but waiting to complete the rest of their auditions before making a decision.

I would also point out that at Elon academic acceptance and artistic acceptance are two separate things. It is possible to get accepted for one and not the other, so read emails, online notices, etc., very carefully.

I was rejected from UT Austin and Coastal Carolina as well as the Otterbein pre-screen. I know about 6 people (4 MT, 2 Acting) who have received acceptance calls from Pace so I assume I’m rejected from there too.

Pace-made the callback but had a bad audition that day(she knew it was not her best work as soon as she was done). Didn’t make the cut to “sing for Amy” which meant she was no longer being considered
CCM-auditioned at the school and was rejected within a week (didn’t have expectations there)

@CanadianMTgirl - How did you find out from Ball State? I know that they have called the “acceptances” but I was not sure how they did the “rejections”. My D auditioned at Chicago unified for Ball State, got academic acceptance with large scholarship but we are still waiting on artistic decision. I do not know if this a good or bad sign. I know a lot of kids have already been accepted. We just keep waiting for a rejection in the mail to go along with…
U Mich
Penn State
Texas State (after Pre-screen)
UCF

I just thought about academic acceptances for schools that a student got, before applying to the MT programs. My D got accepted academically to Pace, but did not make the MT program. I wasn’t even thinking about responding to them about the academic acceptance, and in fact, they keep sending volumes of notices and letters about her academic acceptance, which kind of rubs salt in the wound (it was her top choice). I should call them and decline her offer, I guess.

3daughters-they emailed rejections

Rejected from:
Penn State
Ithaca
Florida State
Northern Colorado

The good part is three of my top four still haven’t replied and the other is an acceptance. The longer the wait, the better the results, I suppose.

Performerporter - that is good news indeed that you already have an acceptance in hand from one of your top choices! I wonder about the whole “no news is good news” thing…at least four of the schools where my S auditioned actually said that – if it’s a no, we will let you know soon. Who knows?

My D is still waiting to hear from BS too. I see a few BS acceptances and rejections posted on the CC boards already. This is their Spring break week so I didn’t expect to hear a decision this week. Parents were told that all decisions would be made and communicated by 3-15-2013.

I think most of the BSU acceptances have been from on campus auditions so far from what I’m reading. I know the auditions were taped at LA Unifieds, maybe in MY and Chicago too???, so perhaps those take longer because they are reviewing every video? Just a thought.

I empathize with each of you during this difficult time and do remember it well. My D is at BSU so PM me if you have specific questions I can answer for you.

As a note of encouragement to all of you. I am writing this while taking a break from over three hours of deliberations regarding the incoming class. This is after hours prior to this. The decisions are extremely difficult. There are many, many talented men and women. Determining who is right for your program and who may not thrive in your program is very hard. Please understand that talent is one component out of many. Certainly the necessary component, but hardly the only one. I hate the word “rejection.” I know it feels correct to the student, but it isn’t a rejection. And thinking of it that way eats at you far worse than the reality. This is as difficult, if not more difficult, than casting a show. This is four years of casting, this is forming an ensemble – a company. I wish you all nothing but the best! Now, I’d best get back to work.

kjgc, we appreciate you and all faculty at each school for giving so much consideration to each and every potential student. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be.

My D heard today so maybe they are making calls and letting prospective students know.

^^^“like” Kjgc’s post #34… 100% concur.

This probably needs to be included in every actor’s lifelong post-audition mantra. ;)

I was rejected from Syracuse yesterday. That’s the only school I’ve heard from.

Alli1drind-sorry about Syracuse - did you get a letter or email? Hopefully others will be good news for you!
