2130 Retake?

rank 2 out of 500 something, solid EC's, 4.3 UC GPA, 4.6 WGPA, I have a post up if anyone wants the specifics, just type my name in the search and look for it if you want, but i got a 2130, i scored a 1920 the first time.....heres the breakdown....

Math:760
Writing:690
Reading:680

I kinda wished i had above 700's on all 3 sections, I'll be applying to UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCD, USC, and Rice just to name the main schools, should I retake or is it solid enough for like UCLA?

you're fine

like, garaunteed in fine, or just like, "maybe" fine???

I heard anything above a 2100 is pretty good, so you probably don't have to worry...

But if you think you can do better, by all means take it if this wasn't your third time

If you want to be guaranteed fine, aim for atleast a 2200

awesome, I don't want to take any risks, plus, if i want some sort of scholarship doohicky, then I should break 2200. thanx for the advice.

Hi funk

Nice job!

What I've heard on CC is that 700 looks better than 690, so if you have the time and think you can improve your writing and reading score, it may be worth it.

go kill yourself. seriously, go kill yourself. i'm sick of people asking whether they should retake a 2130. it's a decent score and if you got below 2000 the first, time, you probably won't break the 2200+ threshold.

Your GPA, SAT, and other in relation to the schools that you are applying to are fine. If you were applying to an Ivy League school, you might want to retake it and take the SAT II's, but I think you'll definitely get into the schools that you are applying to.

thanx guys, and olliepolly, lighten up, wow, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed....quick question, if I were to score lower than a 2130 the 3rd time taking the SAT, woudl that look bad for colleges? lets say I got like a 1900 or something......would that just mess up my 2130?

i'm guessing that they might think your 2130 was a fluke or something...

funkmasta:
how did you improve your SAT so drastically? ^^ Becasue I'm sort of in the same position that your in...except in the 2000s. i want to improve my score to about 2150-2200 or something? Can you give any advice?

Thanx bud

im in your position.. 2130-790M,720W, 620R also ranked 2 with 4.77 Weighted GPA
I really want to know if I should retake or not to make USC TAPP program. If anyone knows anything about tAPP please help me out. Im stressing..

Wow!
I got 2120 - 790M 720W 610V.
This was my first -- and I think, last -- time I took the SATs.
Yes, the CR score, like yours, is HORRENDOUS!
I am so ashamed by it.
Anyway, I'm applying to USC, too!
We're like twins -- except you're Viet. lol

I retook and went from 1940 to 2170 with minimal preparation (trying to learn vocab words the night before). My math score went up 40 from 700 to 740. There's no reason I shouldnt have 800 on the math section (other than stupid mistakes), so I think that if I were to retake again I could do it no problem.

It's funny because I got the exact same score you got, but with the writing and reading switched. I took it a second time and did much better. You may want to consider taking it over if you want merit money or if you want to go to any ivies. Otherwise, I think your score (as well as my first) is quite respectable.

I retook a 2100 and ended up with a 2210. I definitely don't regret it. If you honestly think you could improve your score at least 80 points then go for it. But don't retake just to see if you could do any better without trying.

lol, I doubt i'll really study, and I know im capable of breaking 2000 again, but I don't like the risk factor, i got 1920, then a 2130, but if scored like 2000, i highly doubt it will make my 2130 look like a fluke.......but seriously, grammatix helps and just taking practice tests and UNDERSTANDING where you went wrong. MAJOR WORD OF ADVICE:for CR, when you read a passage, do NOT assume anything, the answer is somewhere in the passage, always. There is never a situation on the CR where you have to assume something, if you go back to the passage, you will find the answer......The place i went wrong was my vocab....lol. Yeah, im retaking, whatevver happens, happens. Viet, im actually applying for USC BAC MD program, dude, we are twins.....

damn. I noe..we're all shooting for the same thing. Could you tell me more bout the USC BAC thing?

search it on google, its a straight med program, but i think the MCAT is still required, though you only havve to score like a 20 seomthing, i dunno the details......if you want to go into medicine it's a good school for straight med.
