2130 SAT good enough for ivy?

Hi all,
I got a 2130 on the SAT, but I'm more familiar with ACT scores--is my score good enough for an ivy? Or is a 2130 towards the bottom range of ivy test scores?
Thanks in advance!

2130 corresponds to a 32 on the ACT. The score won’t render you uncompetitive for admissions at top schools, but it is below average for the most competitive colleges (but not by an enormous margin).

Honestly guys, comon. Your fine. I repeat: your fine. Everyone has around that 2100-2250 range, college admission people could care less about what you got on this SAT–they’ll just look at your grades, EC, and other stuff.

The SAT isn’t everything.

^ There’s a big difference between the reality that the SAT isn’t everything and the falsehood that anything 2100+ is considered the same.

Thanks Stonesn and silverturtle for the feedback! I know a 2130 is below average for Harvard or Yale, but I was wondering if it’s good enough to give my app leverage for Cornell per say?
My GPA is what I’m most worried about holding me back–it’s about a 3.4. However, I DO go to a super competitive high school, and would be enrolling as an fine arts major. Sorry–I probably should’ve included these details in my original post!

It shouldn’t be much of a detriment there, if at all.

Your GPA concerns me far more than the SAT score. Where does that 3.4 stack up (your approximate percentile)?

That’s a pretty bad GPA (no offense, honestly). If you’re outside of the top 10% I would say your chances are, unfortunately, shot.

None taken. My school doesn’t offer students’ percentiles, but it’s slightly less competitive than an Andover if that gives you a better idea of it.
But I do have a really strong art portfolio, essays, extracurriculars, and interned at the smithsonian. Do you think a 3.4 outweighs all that?

^ Can you share your year-by-year GPA?

^ You are competitive for Cornell (They’re average SAT score for an admit Student is exactly 2090 according to the common app).

However your GPA is really uncompetitive for any Top 20 school.

Yeah, I’m looking for individual school reports at the moment. They basically average between a 3.2 and a 3.6, but there’s no really obvious order of increase or decrease

I think you should increase it if you can.

Your GPA is big trouble for ivies.

What is the breakdown of your SAT?

the breakdown of my sat is 690 cr, 720 math, 720 writing

Oh gosh! Not again! Well, you see, Ivy is not about your test score but you as “yourself”. But yeah if you are only considering statistically, then you are in the ball park. But who does not like a Perfect Score?

GPA is looked at in the context of which school you attend and the rigor of your curriculum. OP said her school was slightly less competitive than Andover. Andover certainly enjoys a high level of respect amongst adcoms and a 3.4 from a school like Andover would definitely be competitive for the Ivies. I think they send something like 30% of the graduating class to an Ivy league school. Likewise at our local public, 2/3 of the class is on the honor roll (GPA 3.33 and higher). 1/3 are high honor (3.67 and up). A third! At my son’s prep school there probably aren’t even any gpa’s above a 3.8/9. They don’t rank. They post a percentile chart, but that doesn’t really tell the entire story either, because it doesn’t take into account honors/ap’s (school does not weight). If the OP is at a very rigorous school and has excellent ec’s, essays, and recs, I’d say she has a legitimate shot.

Dont worry too much about your SAT scores. I got slightly below you and was accepted to Penn 5 days ago :). Just focus on the essays and make sure that they are as good as you can make them.

not if your asian
