$217,000

The severance package to get rid of Judy is $217,000. Of course people think that 's a lot of money to pay but I think maybe it's a bargain just to be rid of her.

I’m inclined to agree. As one sophomore said in the Bullet:

I wonder if that’s her career plan–get paid big bucks, wreak havoc, then get paid to go away…

I doubt that is what she had in mind when she began her career but it seems to be working for her now. I suppose at some point no one will touch her but I have no idea when that might be.

According to the UMW Web site, Hurley says, “My overall approach to managing the institution involves an emphasis on customer service, personal integrity, and doing what we say we are going to do.”

Wow. That would be great. Let’s hope he stays around for awhile.

We took a campus tour last week with D who is a junior and she loved it! Anyone out there with any info?
Thanks

Exactly what would you like to know that isn’t on the website? Your daughter loved it- that’s not surprising. It’s a beautiful campus with a nice location. Did you talk to anyone or get a tour?

There are a couple of us UMW moms here that are not exactly boosters of the place. I’ll try to be balanced. The good: professors seem to be REALLY good. My D has not complained about any except one Spanish prof. They have given her lots of positive feedback and encouragement. They mostly seem to care. As I said, the campus is lovely. The bad: Administration. If they can get a good president installed who can stay awhile it should help.

Please feel free to PM me is you want more specifics. D is finishing up her sophomore year and intends to graduate from UMW.
