“22 for 22” List

I’ve done these lists for a few years AND picked a word or phrase of the year.

Based on this: https://api.gretchenrubin.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2018/12/GR_22_for_22_List_Gretchen_Rubin.pdf

For 2022 I think I’ll START a list and then add to it as I think of things I would LOVE to do. So not a “to-do” list of “jobs” but a “ta-da” list - a list of things that would make me happy!!!

I do know my 2022 phrase: “The best things in life are not things”.
This relates to my need to reduce my “things” and to put more into practice that live things like people and pets are more important than things.

I’ll post my “starter list” later - do you have a happiness item to put on a list for 2022???

My 22 for 22 is sadly much of my 21 for 21 list. 2021 was a good year for me, but I got too busy and fell short of my goals. Here’s to a more balanced 2022 and checking off as many of them as possible.

I thought I’d done a 21 for 21 list, but apparently not. I got a lot of my 2020 list done despite Covid. I did like doing the list and some of the things from the 2020 list have gotten to be good habits, or close to good habits. (Like getting exercise at least 3x a week.)

Thank you for doing this. I have my 21 list at work with my responses, and I want to put some good thought into 2022. So it might be a few days before I answer.

I hate it when I can’t read my own handwriting.

Apparently, I misread “lose” as “gain”, therefore, I am printing my 22 for 22.

  • Spend more time by the water (hopefully in a new home!)

I love this idea and will think about it. To experiment cooking with lentils, I suggest you start with red lentils, which cook up much faster, and softer, than brown lentils. I often make a soup with carrots, tomato, red lentils, potatoes, etc. Red lentils make great curry soups too, if you like that. Have a wonderful year.

@mathmom I hope you can make it to Japan! My son has been studying Japanese and wanted to apply for a summer program there, but it’s hard to justify the application fee when the country isn’t even open and we won’t be able to afford it if there’s a quarantine required on top of other fees.

We’re in Vermont --hope you can make it up here as well! Rainy Christmas and New Years haven’t been the best, but we’ll have snow tomorrow and be back to XC skiing.

I did this one year, and I’m afraid to go back and see how I did (pretty sure not good).
Some goals for this year, in no particular order. As the year progresses maybe I will get to 22.

Continue exercising almost daily
Go on trips, both short and long, when we can
Visit local places we haven’t been to
Do better at de-cluttering/getting rid of things
Try some books I wouldn’t normally read
Think carefully before buying THINGS, especially clothes
Continue to track $s spent
Try cooking several new dinners

A twist on listing 22 items to make you happier in life, some people chose to do a list of “22’s” - but maybe only have 10 things on the list. Like:
Read 22 books
Walk 22 minutes each day
Make 22 meatless meals
Run 22 5ks!
