2290 SAT, 3.78 GPA Chance me for Cornell and RPI

I just finished my application for Cornell and RPI at common app, so all that's left for me is waiting.

to make waiting less painful, I wanted to ask people for what I should look forward to

I applied Cornell Engineering, and for alternative school I pick school of arts and science.

I applied to RPI Material science.

I'm legal resident of Olympia WA and citizen of South Korea.

PS:

I later added Metallurgy Culminating Project into my activity.
I just wanted to make sure that is "extracurricular"
because it is technically related and done in school, though it is mostly independent study.

gpa could be a little higher and little stronger ec’s but other wise your fine.

cornell = reach
rpi= high match/low reach

Thank you for the reply.

I have one more question though, when people say reach/match/safe. what does that mean? (I’m guessing match is something like where I would probably fit in as an average freshman)

PS: actually two. I know RPI as an Engineering school that is about my GPA and SAT and such, are there other “match” schools that I might be interested in?

Safety = high chance of being accepted. Usually a back-up school.
Match = decent chance of acceptance. These colleges match your stats.
Reach = lower chance of acceptance. These colleges are generally better than your stats… but things happen, and they happen A LOT.

"PS: actually two. I know RPI as an Engineering school that is about my GPA and SAT and such, are there other “match” schools that I might be interested in? "

Kimbh, other schools of RPI’s caliber would be Georgia Tech and Carnegie Mellon. I dont think you can go wrong with RPI/GaTech/CMU or Cornell. Mure sure to toss is a few true safety schools.

Cornell- low reach
RPI- high match

if you strengthen your EC’s and email the colleges about it, it would be beneficial for you!

Good Luck!!

Chance me back?

Email about it? how? as a application update? or should I just explain it separate from application (likely be added as a additional paper at the end of application)

also, what is “decent chance” 50%? 20%? I know that it is nearly impossible to nail it, but some number, whether that be correct or not would be helpful…
