23% Admit Rate

yea im expecting a rejection now. my test scores are NOT in that bracket and i am NOT in the top 10% of my hs.

the essays SHOULD come back to help us who really wanna go

My scores were in range last year...

This sucks. I'm totally expecting a rejection now. I mean, I was expecting one before, but now I'm REALLY expecting one.

Thing is, the admit rate is below 23% because 23% was combined with the ED % which was 36%... I only wish I had applied ED... I would feel much safer now :(... good luck to everyone in the next couple of days... this is gonna be brutal!

amnesia: that makes it even worse....I posted a thread awhile back where I figured out the RD acceptance rate to be close to 12% based on two rounds of ED where they accept 1/3 of the class...I didn't even account for MOSAIC acceptances...if I find the post, I'll repost it...It was kind of funny b/c after I posted, Brad responded that we should all "relax, that there are thousands of acceptances to come....."

so if I don't get anything in the mail from Vanderbilt on Monday then am i to assume I didn't get in? Because i just read on the vandy admission blog that its just ADMIT packets that are going out priority mail.

rodney, I hope Brad is right and there is nothing to worry about... however, "thousands of acceptances" = at max 3000... out of almost 17000 applications that cant be too good... I'm just crossing my fingers and praying...

P.S. Brad or any Vandy admissions person, if you are out there can you chime in and give us some good news?

also found that post... <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vanderbilt-university/470941-demonstrated-interest.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vanderbilt-university/470941-demonstrated-interest.html</a></p>

To all those who are comparing the admitted student profiles (SAT/ACT) for this year with previous years' enrolled student stats (as reported in the Common Data Set): Don't! For most schools, the admitted student body has higher stats than the enrolled student body, as some of the so-called strongest candidates decide to enroll somewhere else.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the enrolled stats for next fall are indeed higher than last year's, but we won't know that for a long time.

OUr mail should be here by 1 pm ( Atlanta suburbs)-but I cannot find on the Vandy admissions blog where it says ONLY acceptances go out priority mail. rusty1-where did you see that? If you correct, each passing day with no letter will only affirm an already bleak situation.

The SAT and ACT scores line-up with at the very least, Cornell and I believe Dartmouth. Duke had a higher acceptance rate.

Georgiatwins: I can't imagine that Vanderbilt would spend the $$ on priority mail for 16,000 people.....Yes, I assumed what you did....It was sent on Friday; if we don't see it Monday/Tuesday (here in NJ)....affirming a bleak situation....

Curious to see any other school in the country this year whose acceptance rate took such a drastic dive....what was it 34% last year overall to 23% this year??? Hope nobody considered this a safety..........

rodney...

Look at BC. Over 31000 apps for 2000 slots...

My daughter was a legacy and didn't get in...her sister was a Summa (7/2000) and won a University award...made no difference.

Actually, Duke had a lower acceptance rate, accepting only 18.8% as opposed to 23%.

mrtoughguysmom: When you account for EDI and EDII at Vanderbilt, that 23% rate probably drops to below 15% for RD (the 23% was reported as an overall number by admissions)......Was Duke's overall 18.8% or only RD? It sounds like RD, but I have to confess, I haven't been following Duke at all....If it is overall, I would imagine their RD was about 8% of remaining applicants.....Wow>>>>>>>

If anyone gets their letter today let us know. I doubt anyone will and we will all hopefully get them monday...

Duke's RD acceptance rate was 18.8%. They admitted a little over 3000 people out of about 20000 applicants. Thus I would assume that Vandy probably admitted more like 2000 or 2500 applicants, due to an acceptance rate of less than 20%. However, it is possible that Vandy would send out more than that because many people may not decide to attend Vandy.

nothing in NJ

georgetown's acceptance rate fell to 18%

@rodney and amnesia7:
It was 18.8% TOTAL--here is the link <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/482215-duke-admits-18-8-class-2012-a.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/482215-duke-admits-18-8-class-2012-a.html</a></p>

If rd admit rate was only 8% or so, that makes me feel pretty good (I got in!)...but I think it was higher because only about 500 kids were accepted ed

Hmmm... must have read that article wrong then... anyways, hope I have more luck with Vandy, Duke waitlisted me :(

Wow, I wish i hadn't looked at that vandy admissions blog. I was in the middle of the accepted range but not anymore..This really sucks. Oh well I guess i'll just wait and find out. Btw, we should be glad that we aren't a few years younger. Good luck everyone!

the RD acceptance rate is probably around 18% because remember there are A LOT more people applying RD than ED so the ED percentage has a lot less influence on the final admitted percentage

Thats still a sick admit rate compared to last years...
