#23 Holy Cross To Battle #25 Harvard On Saturday

The Series With Harvard
This will be the 63rd meeting between the Crusaders and the Crimson on the gridiron, with Harvard leading the all-time series 38-22-2. The Crimson have won 10 of the last 12 games in the series, but were defeated by Holy Cross 31-28 the last time they came to Worcester (in 2007). For all games played at Fitton Field, the Crimson hold a 7-5 lead in the series, with five straight wins prior to 2007. Holy Cross' Tom Gilmore stands 1-4 against Harvard as a head coach, to go along with an 8-8 record against the Crimson as an assistant coach (at Pennsylvania, Columbia, Dartmouth and Lehigh), and a 2-2 mark as a player (at Pennsylvania).

HARVARD at HOLY CROSS If this is like either of the last two stunning finishes (2007: HC, 31-28; 2008: Harvard, 25-24 ), the Fitton fans are in for a treat.

The Crimson’s sportswriter picks HC:

To read all about the Harvard quarterback situation, check out The Crimson’s 2009 Football Preview, on newsstands today. In this space, we’ll talk about a different signal caller: Holy Cross’s Dominic Randolph. The senior is going for his third—yes, third—consecutive Patriot League Player of the Year award. In the past two seasons, he’s thrown for 7,442 yards and 64 touchdowns. The man is downright terrifying.

Prediction: Holy Cross 24, Harvard 21.

HC beats Harvard 27-20. The Crimson prediction was not too far off.

go crusaders!!!

I like this quote:

“A kid like [Randolph], if you give him enough time, if a guy’s open, it’s a completion,’’ Harvard coach Tim Murphy said. “He’s a special player. He’s a pro quarterback.’’
